OK, so I got another 1/1 card, but this one looks fake to me........
It is SUPPOSED to be a 2006 Topps Print plate, but it's metal, not cardboard like all the others I've seen. ON THE BACK it has a description of it and even a triangular 1/1 sticker, but I don't know how to go about finding the S/N on topps website, I've looked. The S/N on the card is #129974..... could someone check it or tell me where to go, please?
NO, NO scans of it yet, I hope to get it tomorrow!

THEN, I just got a 1998 Playoff Momentum RC Randy Moss card #131, but I have NO idea how to tell if it's HOBBY or RETAIL.... could someone tell me what to look for, or better yet, any pictures?

Thanks again for all the help guys, much appreciated!

Your Randy Moss rookie is the hobby version. The retail are the ones with the football textured border.

Another way to tell is that card #131 is the hobby version, where he is actually #171 in the retail set.

I hope I've helped 8-)

Yes, thank you on both counts for the help!
OK, so this should be a legit print plate then, but like I have a Felix Hernandez 1/1 card and it says it's supposed to be a magenta print plate but it's cardboard.
OR, I have a Erik Bedard Topps Moments/Milestones blue print plate, but it's card board too. Or am I misunderstanding what they mean by that????

Plates are always metal. Sometimes they come enclosed in cardboard, but the plate itself is metal. This is an example of one of the ones embedded in a card.

Yeah, with those it's the metal printing plate just with a border and a fancy cardboard back. They're much nicer than just the plain 'ol printing plate inserted into a pack with (sometimes) a sticker on the back to tell you who the player is.

Ahh, I see what you mean by cardboard now. They're legit, and look much better than just getting the plate imo.

Thank you both for the clarification! I think it's nicer to have the cardboard cover, but sure a good way to throw off the uneducated!
I am working on posting more pics, still don't have the Hasselbeck scanned yet, it's bent in the back anyhow, I'm sure it's from the press constantly slamming the plate up and down.
Still haven't heard though, does Topps have a way to check the S/N on the 1/1 cards?

I'm not sure if you can look up a Topps s/n. You could always email/call customer service and ask if you can't find any info anywhere.

Another thing with some plates that have memorabilia or cut autos are put on top of a regular looking backing. The Sinorice in my sig is actually a plate with the auto and swatches in between the actual plate and a normal backing to a card. It does indicate that it is a plate on the back, and has the same triangular Topps sticker. Figured I'd fill you in there in case you come across anything like that.
