Thats too bad as he has always been an exceptional signer by mail. I know when i mailed him something a number of years ago he sent me back my cards as well as a number of other items from his stash.

He's 95 years old (born in 1917). I don't think he gets around much. And a broken bone for a 95 year old can be life threatening. Actually, being 95 is life threatening.
