Lowest ERA for a 20 loss pitcher?

I tried searching and couldn't find anything. Doug Fister is 3-11 with a 3.10 ERA. In his last 5 games, he is 0-4 with a 2.32 ERA. It is conceivable that he loses 20 games with a sub 3 ERA which might be the saddest stat I've ever seen.

Here are the top 3 in ALL OF BASEBALL for run support.

3. John Danks 4.01 Runs per game
2. Dustin Moseley 3.79 Runs per game
1. Doug Fister 2.91 Runs per game.

Someone give that man a hug.

I know right,
every time he goes out he gives up maybe a run or two and of course the HISTORICALLY bad Mariners offense looks like they're closing their eyes when swinging at pitches.

In 1880 Will White went 18-42 with a 2.14 ERA.

No pitcher in the expansion era has ever had an ERA under 3 while accumulating 20 losses or more.

The best ERA with 20 losses of all time was Ed Walsh's 1.27 ERA in 1910.

The most losses in the expansion era with an ERA under 3 is 18 by Phil Niekro in 1978 when he had a 2.88 ERA.

As noted above... Hall of Famer "Big Ed" Walsh of the White Sox had an incredible season yet went 18 and 20

18 wins, 20 loses, 1.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 7 Shutouts, 258 SOs

His career ERA was 1.82 in 14 seasons.... and he should be noted in the top 10 all time pitchers more often IMO

plus, as seen in pic above, he wears his sweater on his pitching arm between innings,....... take note High School pitchers
