Maine of course......
Well, took the plunge today and ponied up for the final card of my 1953 Bowman Color set. I began this set as a 14 year old kid with my dad, around 1980 or so, resumed collecting it when I found EBAY in 1999 (1st EBAY win, 1953 Bowman Color Early Wynn) and took 10 years to get the final card.

Without further ado.......Mr. Mantle

I do not usually post cards until they are in hand but could not resist......

This is my all-time favorite vintage set and I will likely not collect any other vintage set since this one is so near and dear to my heart. I now have 3 complete vintage sets as I also have the 1956 and 1958 Topps sets.

Will solely be focusing on my Ted collection and HOF auto collection.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone, I am still giddy over this purchase.....

Philip J. Fry- agreed, the most beautiful set ever made in my opinion

RandomH- I love the card too, has a little bit of staining on the top from, what was disclosed and from what I see, but the color and corners look very nice.

Penno- It was a long time coming.....wish it had a Ted W. in the set....

70Chip- Right on brother!!! I'm sure you are surprised to hear I don't do modern (other than certain auto sets)

Craig- Many thanks!! Yes, that is a project that I am looking forward to. I only have this card and the Berra (which was my 2nd to last card) currently scanned. I picked up 5-6 in PSA 5 condition and the rest are raw. *Might* contemplate getting them all graded. I think most would be 4-7, some OC.

G $MONEY$- Agreed, hope I do not drool on it....

Cards are secure at my folks house (they have a full alarm/secuirty system and I do not) so I need to get them in hand soon.

tramers- thanks for the double shot of Pirate love!! ?? :? :?

Alex- I'm in shock  that I now (sort of until it arrives) own this card. Thanks for the kind words about my collection ;)

Andy- I liked the corners, coloring and centering on this card. The small staining does not bother me too much. Hopefully that will be the case when it is in hand. '57 is definitely on hold... ;)

Craig- How can you go wrong with '53 Bowman Color!!!

abncollectsautos- Me thinks it is sweet as well........

Scotty- Vintage anywhere is nice. This may be blasphemy but not really a Mantle fan. You know who my man is!!!

Dave- I do think this set is a masterpiece, 1st full color photography set, gorgeous pictures and no clutter. I can't wait to get them all scanned.

tulsan- Excellent, actually VG/EX  looks similar to my purchase...
