I never know what I want to collect for me. I play around with the prospects (poorly), but as far as the PC goes, there's no real focus. So, back in January when someone started one of those "Collecting Goals for 2009" threads, I made a list of three, only half-expecting to actually make good on it.

#3 was a Sandy Koufax on-card auto. PujolsThomeFan33 had one up in his Transaction thread one day, and so I put together some PayPal and grabbed a 2001 Ultimate Collection auto /150. That was nice, and it felt good to actually follow through on something.

#2 was one I'd had eyes on for almost 5 years. One eBay seller has one in his store, $100 above book, and would decline any offer I made. A local dealer had one, but he's kind of a dink, so I didn't really want to deal with him. So, in walks daveyou, telling me that he will try and locate one for me. Meanwhile, since it's pricey, I only search for it when I have the funds, and missed two of them go off at Best Offers I was more than willing to pay. So, about three weeks ago, I get an email from him, and he points out a fresh BIN/BO auction. He contacted the seller about what she was looking for, and then tells me. I offer a fair amount ($350), slightly higher than the last one went for.
The seller emails Dave, asks if it's his offer. He says no, but that she should definitely take it. 10 minutes later, it's mine.

And, after not being able to sign for it for a couple of days, I now have 2 of my 3 goals for 2009 covered, and it's not even half over yet.

And this, my friends, is why daveyou kicks ass.

Thanks for looking.

#1 is the 1960 Topps Carl Yastrzemski RC in a PSA 8 (his jersey number).
I'm sure when the Shriner's show comes in June, I'll find one there. Big vintage show.

Good luck. If you're determined, I'm sure you can get it.
