Did you actually redeem a RED Refractor? The redemption card I believe should have said so. If it didn't say "Red", I'd assume it was just a screw up on the site, and you got what you were supposed to.

If it does say "Red", I'd scan it and email it over to Topps CS.

I seem to recall a thread about people having certain refractors appear as "red refractors" when they entered them on the site, and they all also received regular refractors -- despite what the "pending" item stated.
Can't remember if it was this release, though.

I remember a thread about this when the redemptions first came out. I believe Topps never made the red redemptions and told collectors it was only for the base auto. I don't have any link or proof about it, but I'm pretty sure memory serves me right on this one. Hope that helps bud...sucks all the same.

EDIT: Dang you Adam, you beat me to it

Topps Customer Service is hands down the worst in the business.
I called a couple of weeks ago to check on some redemptions that have been sitting there for almost a year.
They told me they take redemption cards one by one. By that I mean they take one card that is a redemption and fill all of those redemptions. If the cards are not in house those redemptions go to the bottom of the list and they go on to the next card. That is over all sports, not just baseball. Now, common sense would tell you to handle redemptions in the order they are redeemed. You cannot get ahold of them through email, ever, and good luck finding a checklist on their website for new releases. And if you find a checklist, it is not the same when it gets released. Pujols in Tickets to Stardom anyone? Pujols on the cover of Tickets to Stardom and not being in the product? Beckham in 09 Bowman Draft Picks and not even having a base card? And these clowns now hold the exclusive license for Baseball? Scary!

All card companies have issues.

Try sinking your teeth, and hard-earned money, into most any Upper Deck baseball product and I'm sure that, once complete, your ****** will have seen better days.

And it's common practice for checklists to change - that's why they are preliminary. Is it shatty that they chose to use an image of a Pujols autograph for Ticket to Stardom? You bet it is; but, Upper Deck has pulled some doozies too - like including cut signatures of people who they claimed to be dead but really were alive, fake cut signatures, etc.

Customer service for Topps is lackluster; however, so is customer service for many of the companies who manufacture brands or products that you use every day. Have you tried calling Dell lately?

Exact same thing happened to me. I actually redeemed a green refractor and the site said red. I got a regular refractor. Topps sucks and their redemptions suck. Baseball cards will be run into the ground in no time with these morons behind the wheel.

Unfortunatley I have to call Dell quite a bit with our laptop.
I love how they answer the phone in a very distinguished Indian accent and then say that their name is Bill or Joe or something like that. I can never understand what their customer service reps are saying. Last I heard, many of the companies that outsourced jobs are bringing them back for that reason and that they are wanting to unionize.

In regards to cards, I have to rank Topps as dead last behind Panini, Upper Deck, and Press Pass, in that order when it comes to redemptions, and these are based on my experiences, I'm sure it is different for everyone.

I've told this story before, but I had redeemed an Orange Ref Todd Frazier (07 BDPP) along with a few other Fraziers and some other misc. cards. When I received the Fraziers, the Orange was replaced with a base refractor. I immediately called Topps CS and they said I got what I redeemed. Luckily, I kept photcopies of the redemption cards (before they were online), so I wrote a letter, included a copy of the original redemption and sent the base refractor back. In a little over a week, the orange showed up.

Yep it was this release as I got a regular refractor of Tommy Hanson when I supposed to get a red one. Not a happy camper. Also called topps like others and got the response that was the one you were supposed to get even though its not red in anyway. Also it is ripped on the back. Just not happy with topps at all.

Got an email from Topps today, they said the only refractors that were created were gold /50 and regular /199. Seems odd because I pulled a green refractor redemption card, the site said I would get red, and they sent me a regular /199. I asked the rep (via email) how he thinks it is even legal to distribute green refractor redemptions and not even create them to fulfill the redemption card. No response as of yet, but I am going to harass Topps to the fullest after this and being given and Andrew Miller 2007 topps sticker auto for my Bowman Sterling Jesus Montero auto/relic.
It pisses me off that they stiff consumers like this. I pulled the redemption for both of the above mentioned cards and got literal garbage in return because Topps cant get their Sh*t together in time for a product release. I think at least 1 email and 2 phone calls a day might get the message through to them. Maybe it won't but he F it, I have the time to try and piss them off enough to pay me off to go away.
