Im not talking about selling your cards on here, more like this:

Up until several weeks ago, I have no idea that 2001 Topps Heritage Chrome cards sell over-way over book. Who knows how many Ive passed up over the years in discount boxes?

So I listed three (Piazza, Ankiel and Gwynn) because of the info I read about them on here.

The Piazza got $30 BIN while the Ankiel and Gwynn are still going on ebay.

Theres other examples Im sure (plenty of prospects) but what about you guys?

Nothing that I have sold yet, but I have been alerted, because of posts here when certain players are selling better than usual.

Yes, without the post on the Heyward maddness I would have never bothered to dig through my stuff to find 4 base bowmans. Got $15 for them. Better than nothing.

YSL cards in lots I wouldn't have bothered until I found out you could get roughly $0.50 ea. or so.

Prospects, obvioulsy. Pablo Sandoval comes to mind.

I don't know if you "make" money by not spending it, but I feel I saved a bunch seeing some of these cases being busted.

I had no idea that Indiana Jones or Star Wars sketch cards could fetch so much. i knew who a lot of those sketch artists were, but until people pointed out some of the sales that the better artists were getting, I was in the dark.

The selling who is hot part is obvious. I'd say mosts prospectors/flippers here have made money by not spending money like hive said. Just the discussions of who to buy and what to buy at what time has given most prospectors/flippers a little extra money in their pocket just for being better buyers overall.

Plus, Topps and UD variations and info like that is alot quicker to find and more reliable than other places on the web.

Sometimes, it costs me money 'cuz I see a sweet card I didn't know about or a set that just looks great and it starts me collecting that set. But that's still a positive...

You only got $30 for the Piazza? I figured you'd have gotten more for it.

Last years Topps Heritage High number edition..
I didnt know about the Super short prints like Pedroia on the Yankees,
I got a SP Jeter on the Red Sox out of the case and didnt know what it was until someone posted here about the Pedroia card..

Thought it was a buyback common card and put it on the side and found out later it was an SSP,
Looked at my Jeter and noticed the Red Sox logo was on the card.
sold on ebay for $180

One ended a few hours before I listed mine for $35. Funny how it seems like low level stars and commons go for insane money and super stars (not named Jeter and afew others) for a little more.

If I were the kind of person who is willing to sell, then yes I could make a fortune on this site and off of it. Fortune meaning, I'd make a hell of a lot more than I spend. As it stands right now...I just like to collect. Plenty of times I get info here that it seems not everyone knows about which helps me make choices on what to buy and when to buy it so I can save money in the long run.
