By far - still the best

why does Atlanta get stuck with the worst in Chip Caray and Joe Simpson - seriously they could find two guys in the cheap seats that could do a better job.

I love Scully as well...you can close your eyes and it feels like your at the game listening to him.

As a Mets fan I loved listening to Ralph Kiner, he was Mets baseball. I like when they have him back and he tells his wild stories. Being from the old school he does not try to make them politically correct! I also enjoy Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling. They both bring the player aspect as well as some needed humor to the games. I love it when Keith bashes the team/players on air. He says what the fans want to say. i know he gets in trouble a lot for it as well! ;)

When I was a kid, I used to love the trio of Vin Scully, Ross Porter and Jerry Doggett. During the summers, used to stay at my grandparents in Fontana, CA and we would sit on the breezeway on summer nights, listening to Vin on the radio, while my grandpa made us the world's greatest chocolate milkshakes in the blender. GREAT memories. :)

Scully alone makes the Extra Innings package worth it for me.

And Chip Caray makes me want to throw up in my mouth. I like Joe though. But I really miss Boog Schiambi.

Vin Scully and Jack Buck = Best Ever

What makes them the best is that they never let anybody change their style. The Cardinals actually demoted Buck briefly in the early 1950's because they wanted him to sound more like Harry Caray. Jack told 'em to pack sand. Fast forward and Jack Buck is enshrined in the HOF before Harry Caray.

Vin Scully and Jack Buck each called Kirk Gibson's shot in the series and both are fantastic.

My two favorite is and will always be Richie Ashburn and Harry Kalas.
I used to listen to the radio during their innings and then switch over to TV when they were on there.

Absolutely. The thing I loved about Kalas was that he was fair. He'd call opposing team's plays with (nearly) the same strength as the Phils. None of that 'good guys/bad guys' homer stuff. For some reason that always stuck with me as the right way to do it. Ashburn's easy commentary and smooth voice was a nice foil for Harry's resonance.

That reminds me, watching the Mavs/Heat the other night, I thought the announcing was unbearable. The main PBP guy was alright, but the other two guys just badly needed socks stuck in it. I almost turned the sound off, but I wasn't watching and needed sound to follow along.

Scully is an all-time great for sure but I grew up with Mark Holtz and still miss his "Hello Win Column" call. RIP sir.

I wonder if that clown for the White Sox ever listens to Scully and thinks, "Nope, I've nailed it".

Scully's amazing. As was Niehaus. As was Tom Cheek.

As a Yankee fan I would trade the last 23? years of Sterling for a Scully highlight or clip. I have a hard time even listening to the broadcasts anymore due to his tomfoolery.
