say it aint so. this blows. everyone i have been a huge fan of has came up hot. i hope its a mistake or something like that.

I don't think they would have announced it until they were sure.

Even if it was something his doc gave him, then they are both idiots.

very true. im sure he will come up with some sob story about how its an accident. at least palmiero just said "yeah i screwed up, its my fault" and arod has admited using for some time.

did mark mcgwire actually ever come up hot?

Manny and Boras say it was a drug a doctor prescribed for personal reasons. Who knows if that is true

I am sorry, but I do not know of too many drugs perscribed for "Personal Reasons" that would have a PED in it, unless it was prescribed to personally enhance his performance....

I am sooooo glad the Giants didn't sign Manny, couldn't imagine another big 'roid scandal in SF. But at least it's the Dodgers headache now, I wonder how many other players will be linked to Mannys' doctor?

It is amazing how this news has just made my day!! :D
Manny is an abomination and what he did by quitting on the Red Sox is inexcusable. This ridiculous, "My doctor gave it to me" excuse is laughable. I cannot understand how this guy has fans??

MANNY: Doc, I'm not feeling too well after working out and I seem to not be getting any stronger. Can you prescribe anything for that?
DOC: Sure, this will help your body rebuild quicker after workouts and gain muscle mass.
MANNY: Thanks.

Point? Just because a doctor prescribes something, it doesn't make it legal in professional baseball.

Manny knows that.

Boras knows that.

Every single player knows that, so this excuse is silly at best.

Well, even if a doctor prescribed it - wouldn't you think that doctor would know that Manny is a MLB player and realize that he needed to be careful of whatever medication he is prescribing him? I call BS on that line.

The thing I don't understand is, how come when a player is caught like this, they get to continue playing under the same contract? They should have their contracts lowered due to lying about their performance. Now he will most likely not be as good a player if he has to lay off the juice, and he is now not the same player they signed. It should be a breach of contract.

Can the Dodgers veto Manny's contract now he tested positive?

I have always wondered this. Im sure there is some character clause in there.

I totally agree. I think that ARod's contract should be voided too.

Only if this was stipulated word for word in the contract.

Although I am fairly certain that they don't get payed for the games they are suspended. I believe that's why you see guys appealing 3 and 4 game suspensions.

Well Manny won't be paid during his suspension, about $7 million.

"The suspension will cost Ramirez $7.7 million, or roughly 31% of his $25-million salary. Players in violation of baseball's drug policy are not paid during suspensions"

I honestly hope Pujols is not coming up... that would be the worst of them all in my opinion.

The worst of whose left, yes. NOT the worst of everyone, imo that was AROD. He was gonna go down as the greatest to ever play the game and he was everyone's hope of a "clean record".

Other then being legal, how is this any different then Brian McCann having laser surgery to improve his vision ? If you want the sport to be competitive and balanced with everyone playing on their God given attributes, how is allowing a player to correct his eyesight through surgery fair ?
