As a Yankee fan, all this does is cap off what has been a horrible last four months.

It started when Montero was traded. Then Pineda was miserable, then he was hurt. Hughes sucks, Garcia sucks. Now the Yankees offense is miserable, the team can't win, and now Mariano is out.

Horrible horrible horrible.

And now Jose Campos is on the DL. Is it the curse of Montero?

As a non Yankee fan, this does not affect me.

As a baseball fan, my hat goes off to a truly great ball player. Mo is the best I have ever seen at closing a baseball game.

It's merely an observation. I think you are the one who needs to relax. It's a message board. People type things. Chill out.

see that doesn't make sense. A- it's the same thing I said to you and B- I obviously do not care what either said.

It's ok little fella. Josh and miggy can't hurt youawww.gif

I simply made an observation. I'm not sure what you don't understand. Are you over-tired? You are being a mega ****** right now and it's not very flattering. Maybe you need some sleep?

You were trolled. That or he really is one of the stupidest people in the world. It absolutely has to be one of the two. I have never seen so much complete idiocy in one post.

Why does it have to be one or the other? I believe it to be both.

Cano and Betances for Montero.

Would Seattle be dumb enough to do that?

I know you are frustrated with Cano right now but you'd be absolutely dumb to trade Cano. Cano is hands down the best player the Yankees have.

I couldn't agree more. And what a class act Mo has been throughout his career.

I remember when the '97 All-Star game was played in Cleveland, my buddy had 2 tickets to the event the day before which included the Celebrity softball game, AL and NL batting practice, and of course the HR Derby. So my buddy was kind enough to take me.
When we got there that morning and before we went inside the stadium we stood outside the gates along with a bunch of other fans where all of the players were all being dropped off in brand new red Ford Lincoln Navigators. Some players would get out and smile and wave, but snooty's like A-Rod, Chipper Jones among others (mostly the "Big Stars") didn't wave, didn't look over at anyone, and didn't even acknowledge any of us standing there. It was as though we did not even exist. Now I had nothing to be signed and was just standing there enjoying a close up view of all of the players coming in. But such a pity for all of those "little people" wanting to get any kind of response from some of these prominent, famous, and quite obviously legendary and literal Gods on earth. (In they're own mind)

But then came Mo. He got out of his Navigator an came straight over to the gates and proceeded to sign auto's for about 20-25 minutes. Then he went into the garage entrance and sat there with his wife and another lady for a few minutes clearly in view for all of us standing there. The fans started shouting to him and after a few short minutes passed he came back over to the gates and signed for at least another 20 minutes before heading into the stadium. All the while with a big smile on his face and clearly lots of eye contact and some chit-chat with the fans.

Now although I've never liked the Yankees much, my respect for Mo grew immensely that day. So this is sad to hear about a totally classy, respectable human being who is probably the best closer the game has ever seen and an obvious 1st ballot shew-in for the Hall of Fame.

I hope you can come back Mo, but if you can't or don't I salute you Sir on your career and your humble, selfless class.

Man just saw his interview from the YES network on ESPN. I feel so bad for him. He's definitely hurting inside too.

They played an audio clip from it this morning on the radio. It's really tough to listen to.

Maine of course......
Wow, this post is insane- some really immature Board members here........

As a baseball fan, he's the best closer of all-time. He's been money for most of his career. Crazy that no one has consistently figured out how to hit his cutter.

As a Sox fan, I have loved the rivalry with Mo over the years. Best closer of all time. He's won his share and the Sox remarkably beat him a few times- none more memorable than game 4 of '04 ALCS. Without him the rivalry would not have been the same.

All this said, everything that we as fans hear about Mariano seems to point to him being a FIRST CLASS guy. Why would anyone want to see a 1st ballot HOFer who is a class act potentially end his career this way? Grow up people.......
