Actually, if you did mean it LITERALLY, you'd have electric current passing thru your body (or possibly have low cellular respiration). You used it figuratively, and my comment was apt. Although crapping your pant (losing bowel control) IS a sign of shock, so maybe we're both right. Just hop in the shower and you should be fine.

It's a shame that more than likely the best closer and maybe one of the best overall pitchers of all-time has thrown his last pitch. Although I'm sure he would have liked to go like his pal Jorge did, he is obviously a first ballot HOFer without throwing anymore pitches. I think at the end of the day he realizes that he milked his body as far as it could go and it was time to throw in the towel. I've been at handfuls and handfuls of Yankee games and I know one thing, Jeter gets a big ovation every time he comes to the plate but I don't think there is anything quite as exciting at Yankee Stadium under the lights with a one-run lead in the ninth when Mariano takes the jog in from center.

Maybe they can do Tommy John surgury at the same time and maybe he will pitch another 5 years after taking a year off!

Worst. Year. Ever. I can't imagine the strain of rehabbing from both TJ and ACL surgery at the same time..
Today I feel for Mariano the Yankee and Mariano the man. I was at the old Yankee Stadium on the final day when Mo closed it out against the Orioles. I was in Boston on the Green Monster when he closed out a win for Joba who out dueled Beckett that night in 08. I have been at the Stadium for many moments with Mariano.
I don't have the personal connection to ARod, and from what I have read, he isn't a quarter of the man Mariano is off the field. If it was ARod, I would feel for the loss of his bat.
From a guy who has had and still has a brain tumor - that's not funny (nor is JH's career-ending post, for the record).
Hopefully it isn't career-ending, but if it is, he had a good run.

Yeah, I know nothing serious was meant by it, but it still irked me a bit.
I appreciate the prayers. It's nothing serious now, although it was seven years ago with my first tumor (the one I have now is only pea-sized, benign, and hasn't grown in 4 years).

Additionally, that JoshHamilton guy who compared Hamilton's drinking and drug addictions to Rivera tearing his ACL in batting practice is ridiculous. Hamilton chooses to have a good time and party hard, Rivera is the polar opposite of Josh Hamilton which is why of course people feel more sympathetic for Rivera.

I'm not going to get into the comparing of the two because that's fruitless and they are two different situations. However, Hamilton has an addiction problem. Anybody who understands anything about addiction knows it's not something that just goes away and it's certainly not something that people should just brush aside as no big deal.
In regards to Rivera, I feel awful for him. Echoing the sentiments of many on here, he is a class act and one of those Yankees I've never had anything but the utmost respect for. Here's wishing him well in his recovery.
