Ethier would be nice as long as he doesn't cost too much in prospects. Definitely not touching Zunino, Hultzen or Walker for him, so I guess I'd be comfortable with Paxton + fillers.

He's a solid player, but not a #3 hitter that you build around. His past 2 years average out at , .288 avg, 15.5 HR's, 75.5 RBI's.

I'd still rather the M's package up everything they can for Stanton.

Do you think so? Aren't they renovating the outfield? Making it more of a hitters park?

Yes they are finally bringing in the fences about 10 feet or so to make it more hitter friendly. Safeco is a hard place to hit home runs, especially for the Mariners. So they are trying to fix it. Ethier would be an awesome player to land though especially since they picked up Morales. Finally FINALLY making moves. Just wish they would dump Smaok on someone.

I'll be disappointed if Ethier goes, but since the Dodgers don't have to get rid of him they had better hold out for as much as they can get for him. The Dodgers have been forced to pay dearly for guys they've brought in, and it's time they do it to another team. If he goes to the M's, we need to get some of their so-called untouchables back in return. Ethier is a damn good player and definitely worth an above average return in trade.

I agree with this post.

Zero chance he brings back 'multiple untouchables'. He has a big contract and if he comes to Seattle his numbers would suffer due to lack of pop - His past 2 years average out at , .288 avg, 15.5 HR's, 75.5 RBI's.

I wouldn't give up more than Paxton for him.

I have absolutely no idea why Jack Z would make this trade.

It's not like we need another starting pitcher. We do? XXXX.

It's not like we have a terrible right fielder. Mike Carp? XXXX.

It's not like there is a comparable outfielder to the Ethier available in free agency. What's that, Michael Bourne is available for a comparable price.......

*drool*

In order to give up a ton, I'd want the M's and Stanton to either agree to an extension soon after, or have a reasonable framework for one. Even still, as much as I have an absolute baseball crush on Stanton, I'm scared to break up what the M's have coming up. A stud catching prospect and 4 pitchers with ceilings ranging from good #3 to true #1, all coming up together, and backing up Felix. If they were going to do it, I'd really like them to try and keep Walker and Zunino, and maybe use some of the young players currently on the big league roster.
