Crap. I thought he'd learn his lesson. People have been emailing my website wondering where he had been the last week, since he hadn't been broadcasting Dbacks game. I didn't know. Yesterday a woman emailed me and said he was back, and that they said he had been on vacation in France.

AZ is very tough on DUIs. This doesn't bode well for Gracie, nor should it for a repeat offense.

Disappointed in my guy. At some point, you need to grow up and lose the party boy image.

One of the last guys I remember seeing smoke in the dugout (Peoria '86). Mans man that needs to start making man decisions. I mean, you're Mark Grace, and in AZ or CHI you're Mark F-ing Grace. You can find a ride to ANYWHERE. Love the dude as much as any player in my generation but don't make someone die before changing your ways

Its hard to feel sorry for him at this point, but this is his second DUI in the past year and a half

He was putting peoples lives in danger driving drunk again and without the required interlock, a suspended license and suspended plates.

Agreed. I've always been fond of Mark Grace, he's a great player commentator and was a great player. But there's no excuse for it. He should be thankful he didn't kill or harm anyone. Hopefully he mans up, accepts his punishment and gets better. It's not looking too good right now for him.

These were my thoughts posted on www.markgrace.com. Bet I'm in for a spike of traffic tomorrow.

Posted August 24, 2012

A sad day for Grace fans, as Mark Grace was arrested yesterday for his second DUI (the first occured June 14, 2011) and has announced an indefinite leave of absence from his broadcasting duties with the Arizona Diamondbacks. According to the Arizona Republic, Mark was pulled over by the Scottsdale Police around 9PM on Thursday, August 23 for an expired registration tag. Police then administered a field sobriety test and found probable cause to take a blood draw. Grace was also cited for driving his vehicle with a suspended license and without a court mandated interlock device from his previous arrest. He was booked without incident and later released.

The Diamondbacks announced this morning, the day after the arrest, that Mark would be taking an taking "a leave of absence to seek personal assistance." No further details were given.

Grace has had issues with alcohol for several years. During his tenure in Chicago, he was a noted patron of the bars around Wrigley, and built a repuation as a "party boy." His arrest last year should have been a wake up call to seek help for his drinking behavior. It saddens me that this second occurance had to happen. It's time for Grace to ditch the party boy persona and find help for his drinking, before he hurts himself or others. Arizona has strict DUI laws, so this second trip in front of a judge should have a sobering effect. Let's hope he approaches sobriety wth the single-mindedness that he once applied to his defense - taking extra infield practice every day to transform himself into a gold-glover. That dedication to the task at hand would serve him, his children Jackson and Preston, and his loved ones well. Get well Gracie, we wish you the best - but remember, three strikes and you're out.

Great write-up. Couple of grammatical errors that you might want to edit.

I hope they put his ass in tent city and treat him like everyone else that gets a DUI here in AZ or he's going to kill someone one of these days.
