Sad to see him go, I think he did a great job. Can't blame a guy for wanting to be around his kids more often.

Well I for one will miss him. He served his role very well can't blame the guy for wanting to be closer to home.
My pick for the role would be Terry Pendleton.

From what I heard was that John Mabry would probably move into that role and they would refill his position.

I think it is more about being the Skipper of a team in the future more then seeing his kids.

It's a perfect situation with him. He loves coaching and hes always wanted to. Look at the back of his 93 Upper Deck Gold Heroes card. On the back the card asked the player a few questions. One of the questions the card asked was what he wanted to do after baseball. To coach was his answer. He also said he regretted numerous times on the record on how he hated not being there for his first son who is now 25 during his playing days. It cant get better for him right now. He lives 40 miles from LA. This is the dream retirement job for a guy who wants to coach & possibly manage as well as being close the family.
Looks like i will be going to glendale for spring training.

This was what I meant. I know he has aspirations of being an Skipper sometime. And I think he will in the near future.
