I remember when he was the hottest thing since sliced bread. This guy is just as useful as a poopey flavored lolli-pop.

Yeah right! He is going to be hooking up with those old ladies at Shoprite on weekday mornings! :| That scares me.

When they acquired him, the Jays told Bush he was on a zero-tolerance watch. Then he went and skipped practice yesterday. Good on management for sticking to their guns.

The Blue Jays also released Ryan Patterson and Eric Neilsen today. Dont quite understand the Patterson release. He was a 4th rounder, plays all 3 outfield positions and has consistently been a .280 18-20 HR guy and is still fairly young.

Patterson is a great guy. I am a season ticket holder here in NH and have gotten to know him pretty well over the past 3 seasons. He texted a friend of mine this morning with the news. Caught him completely by surprise. Personal opinions of the person aside, I just dont see where they have a better outfield prospect in the system that would necessitate releasing him. Guaranteed he will be signed within a day or two. My bet is Houston or Philadelphia.

Hopefully in Philly so I can meet him in Reading again. He was a very cool dude and was very kind to everyone.

While I've always liked Patterson, he was beyond horrible last year and will be turning 26 in a month.

Now, the Jays may have the worst outfield prospects (at least in AAA/AA/A+) in all of the Minors, but with a Major League outfield of Snider/Wells/Rios/Lind, they're set for quite some time. I expect they felt that Patterson would never get a chance with Toronto so they'd give him a chance to latch on somewhere else.

Oh well. I had hoped that he would get some regular season games in before falling off the tracks. I'm sure he will get a shot somewhere else.

Kinda surprised at Patterson and Nielsen being released. The Jays outfield appears to be set but one or two major injuries can change things pretty fast.

A day that will forever live in Padres infamy:

I never understood it. I went and scouted the kid about 3-4 weeks before the draft, and he was okay. You saw some of the tools, some of the talent. But I felt it was fairly obvious he wouldn't hit.

One of the Angels scouts said this, and it really rang true... "you can go get a guy like this from the Dominican that can field and throw for $10,000."
Boy was he right.

I was certain that the Padres were going to take Stephen Drew. It made all the sense in the world... Or at least Weaver.
