A friend of mine from high school had a wasp fly into her ear. At first we didn't believe her. We also tried one of the industrial sized vacuums at a car wash on her ear to try to remove it, but ultimately she missed the first day of school to have it surgically removed.

Crazy stuff, still not sure how it happens. Chances of that happening have to be about 1 in a billion.

The problem is due to the ear being the center of balance or something like that. If something gets in there, you lose your balance and experience symptoms like vertigo. Definitely not good for an athlete.

I've had a bad case of vertigo before and its awful. I couldn't watch TV or drive in a car without getting sick. I had to have someone drive me to the doctor and I had a blind fold over my eyes so that I wouldn't get dizzy. Equilibrium doesn't seem like that big of a deal... until its off!

Not to mention a complete lack of focus.

My ears are slow to drain after snorkeling at any depth. On my honeymoon we were diving off a reef in Jamaica and I didn't let my ears drain afterward. No biggie then but 3 days later w/ 4 days left of the honeymoon my balance went to crap. It lasted for a couple months. Not fun.

Moths are my least favorite insects. I would freak the f out.

Really? Moths are alright. A little chalky and nasty, but they're innocent. They're like ugly butterflies.

For me, it's earwigs. We have a crapload of them around here. If an earwig went into my ear, I'd probably be damaged for life. ::shudders:: I kinda wish I hadn't thought about it.
