I was pulling for Leinart ever since the has tryed to restart his career. Yes i know the Texans are on a bye week but this could be your last chance to show an NFL team your worth. What does he do. He hops on a flight to South California to prob see family an friends like most players during the bye week where he prob has 2-3 days off. What should he be doing FILM ROOM, PRACTICE FIELD, FILM ROOM, THROWING BALLS TO WR. A Johnson is coming back this week an all they did was have a quick chat. If i was Leinart i would be asking/begging him to get some field time in so we could get in sync.

- Matt Leinart had a quick chat with Andre Johnson before leaving the Texans' locker room on Tuesday to catch a flight home to Southern California.

When he returns next week, Leinart will have a first-place team to lead and Johnson should be healthy enough to help him.

Leinart will be the Texans' starting quarterback in the first game after their bye, at Jacksonville on Nov. 27 after Matt Schaub was injured in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.

A league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Schaub will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury.

The Texans were taking off the rest of the week. Leinart planned to relax and enjoy time at home with his 5-year-old son Cole. And after a mostly-frustrating route through the NFL, when he returns to work on Monday, he'll be a starter again at age 28.

Sorry he is actually not gonna be back in Houston until maybe even MONDAY. I know you want to see your kid but why is he in Cali anyways if ur playing in Houston an have been all year. Its not like your a broke player at worse your renting a nice house, condo, apt that many of us can't afford. Why isnt your family there with you. YOU SHOULD BE IN HOUSTON EVERY DAY DURING THE BYE WEEK. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. Just another player from the GREATEST draft ever to fail

Busts
2 New Orleans Saints Reggie Bush RB - Next great RB lol oh how we were all wrong
3 Tennessee Titans Vince Young QB- Oh what could of
9 Detroit Lions Ernie Sims LB - another bad Detroit selection (thanks Millen)
10 Arizona Cardinals Matt Leinart - An to think i wanted Det to take
15 St. Louis Rams Tye Hill - CB - Great Shut down corner i think not
21 New England Patriots Laurence Maroney- NE finally thought they found there great RB to take NE to the next level

There are many more but i just looked atthe list off of wikipedia real quick

If he's not ready for it right now, a few more days of film wouldn't make a difference. The only thing that he could do to improve at this point is work with the first team offense, which isn't an option if the team isn't practicing during the bye.

It's not really that big of a Deal. I'm sure he wouldn't have left without consulting with Kubiak. Heck, alot of coaches send the Players out of town on the Bye. As for the kid, he's not married, the kid is from a USC fling, and lives with His mother, not Leinart.

As for the Draft being a big fail, I disagree. In fact, Bush, although not being a HOFer, has been an All-Pro and is not a Bust IMO. Young, troubled by issues off the Field still won OROY and made the Playoffs. And if you look deeper at the First Round, there's a ton of good players there. The weird thing is how the 4th Round has so many better players than the Third...

As for Sims, he shouldn't have been Drafted that high anyway, due to Concussion issues. Sorry, you're right on that one. Thanks Millen! :(

The weird thing is how the 4th Round

Many late round players play with a chip on there shoulders an usually come through. Any draft can be look at from 3-4-5-6 years out about who teams should of drafted an where players ended up. Alot of the times players fail not because they didnt have the talent but because of the teams, surroundings and other factors that a cant miss prospect actually missed. Sometimes tho players just where GREAT COLLEGE players.

huge expectations and not a lot of output...Bush and Leinart had talent all around them...and VY...what a beast....4 players from the Top 15 played in the National Championship....way too much hyped surrounded that draft class.

There are new rules in the CBA when it comes to bye weeks and required day's off. Not not sure if that means they can't come to work but I know they are being given more time off now.

so...Leinart is supposed to be in the film room...where he, Schaub, and Yates always are.

He is supposed to beg and plead for practice time...when the new CBA strictly says he can't.

He is supposed to tell Andre Johnson to cancel his plans for the bye, and work with him?

this topic is dumb

why?

because Leinart > Palko ???

no it's dumb because the OP has no idea how the NFL works. Lienert can't do anything the OP thinks he should be doing. There are labor laws and yes, they extend to professional sports.

I understand this topic in theory......but isn't the actuality that players are basically forced to leave for a few days during the bye week? I really don't think this is Leinart's choice or that he could stay and do these things even if he wanted to in the new CBA.

The bye week seems like a mini-vacation now, just a chance to rest - not a chance to get extra work in and improve. From what I've noticed, coming off a bye this year was actually a disadvantage for teams.

Didn't Palko beat out Flacco 'cuz his Dad was a big booster and bought DW a specialized Golf Cart? Or was that Rutherford?

Either way, wrong choice!
