Maybe baseball should have a different city each year host the world series.

Know it's somewhat unconventional and probably blasphemy to some but think baseball should maybe follow football's lead and have a different ballpark host the world series each year. The more I think about it the more I like the idea. For one I think having the game (most times) on a neutral site is the fairest way to decide a champion. It also could give alot of different fans of different teams a chance to see a world series in their ballpark who might not ordinarily get the chance because of their team's inability to get there. Would help the players in terms of travel. Might open up more tickets for regular fans to get tickets. Think it would create a cooler atmosphere for the event where the host city can hold different events kind of like with the Superbowl. Would also benefit the local businesses like hotels, restaurants, bars, etc of that city that may ordinarily never have the chance otherwise. Not sure it would work because of the potential length of the series and baseball tends to be a more local fan base than football but it would be interesting.

No way fans would travel to another city for days at a time, return home, have to travel again, etc. Plus there is very little time for fans to make travel plans if their team makes the WS. I doubt many local fans will want to spent hundreds to see two teams the don't cheer. Bad idea.

It works for football because it is one day with the date and teams known well ahead of time to make travel plans.

The short notice is definitely an issue but I think getting people to attend the game wouldn't be. In fact I think the problem is that alot of regular fans have no chance right now to see a game. This would give more people an opportunity to see a world series game because like you said most people probably couldn't take off for the whole series therefore more tickets might be available to the general public. I mean I'd be pretty shocked if every game wasn't sold out.

The All-Star game is for the general fans. The World Series is for the two teams and their fans.

I think that's part of the problem though. The world series should be more than just about the fans of the teams that are in it. I'd like it to be more of a national event like the Superbowl is. Maybe this is one way to help that. Also think it's a good way to create excitement for the baseball fans of those towns, especially kids. I mean I could be wrong but I think cities would be pretty excited to host and I think it would create a little more excitement around the series for fans of baseball who aren't necessarily fans of the team. I mean the fans of those teams are going to watch the game no matter where it's played. It's about creating interest and getting people to watch who aren't fans of those teams but who are fans of baseball.

For a team that had never been to a world series or had a long drought it wouldn't be fair to their fans. Not to mention all the $$$ it generates for the cities and teams that make it.

The location of every world series should be determined by which team (city) has the best record in spring training..."this time, it COUNTS"

7 Games, 7 Cities...

Game 1 NE (NY, Bos, Phi Was), Game 2 South (Miami, TB, Atl) , Game 3 MW/Texas (Hou, Arlington STL, KC), Game 4 S Cal/ARI (LA, SD) Game 5 N Cal/PNW/COL, Game 6 Northern (Mil, Cle, CHI, PIT, Tor, Min) Game 7 Best record of teams playing, will not play in that city in previous games...

Does that cover the regions?

I know one thing; whatever world problems you guys solve in this thread, there doesn't need to be any more freakin' off-days in the post season than there already is

You can't have a championship at a neutral site if it's a multiple game series

Definitely agree about the off days. In fact you could probably just have one off day if all the games of the series were at one location. Maybe 3 straight days, one day break, then 4 games straight.

Says who?

CWS final is best of 3. That's a multiple game final at a neutral site.

It's also a college sport that isn't really profitable, and the semis are also in Omaha. Plus Rosenblatt had 50+ years of built-up history and tradition

They only play the Super Bowl at a handful of places.

Although I like the idea of changing venues, it doesn't make sense. A team deserves to have the chance to play and win at home in front of their fans. Playing on a neutral site would diminish crowd support for home teams, which could determine the outcome of the series.

Do you really think that if the Yankees are in a World Series that MLB is going to want to hold that World Series in KC, or Cleveland or Baltimore? Or if a team like the Cubs gets to the World Series, that they would have it somewhere else after Cubs fans have been waiting for so long. Or that fans in New York are going to care about the World Series if a team from New York isnt in it? Do you think that a crook like Loria, who disassembled his team the second they fell out f the race, should get prophits by hosting a World Series that two other franchises are in? The Super Bowl is a seperate beast, you cannot compare it to other sporting events here in the U.S.
