I have not been following Maybin closely other than checking his line for the season.

I know there are a ton of Maybin fans here and I was wondering if his performance this season has changed peoples outlooks long term?

He was lousy the entire time with the Marlins this season. Absolutely zero power and 2-3 strikeouts per game.

I still have faith he can turn it around but he's certainly not the "next Ken Griffey Jr.", a claim a local South Florida newspaper made.

Not really.

He's clearly doing well for himself in the minors (when healthy), but needs to get it together in the Majors. In New Orleans (AAA), he's actually improved his K rate quite a bit, which is encouraging, but his health keeps undermining his progress.

Hopefully he'll return soon, so that he'll have a shot at a September callup.

And hopefully Fredi Gonzalez will finally wake up and put him back into the leadoff spot, where he showed flashes of brilliance late last year. This is where he excels, IMO.

With us 3.5 games behind the Phills in the NL East, we don't need that K Machine batting lead-off!
