I know this kid is only 22 but thought for sure this was the breakout year..bought the cards to go along with my silly thinking.
Any big Marlins fans or Maybin fans with any thoughts on this kid??
Thanks-

He didn't do well this spring, so the Marlins sent him to AAA New Orleans. While there, he's improved his approach quite nicely, including his normally high K rate.

Since being recalled to Miami he's 6 for 17, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 6 BB, 4 K's.

Strikes out too much. He's a Brandon Wood meets Preston Wilson type of player.

Oh, and one more thing for the OP - some posters here think he's destined to strike out 4 times per game throughout the rest of his career.

I did notice his BB rate looks pretty good..is this kid the second coming of Pie??
Im watching Upton right now and he's another guy who has just stunk it up this year. Im guessing the shoulder and missing spring training may have had something to do with that. Guess now is time to buy upton and Maybin!!
Thanks for reply

Im not a believer, but then again, I never have been. I see him as a .240-.250 hitter with 8-10 HRs and 150Ks per year.

Dude the guy is 22 I think his real big year will be when hes 24-25 i see him batting 280-285 consistantly w/ the occasional 300+ but not a yearly thing. He reminds of a Johnny Damon type player w/ the K's. He seems to have a done a decent job of cutting his BB to K rate so I dont think he will be a mark Reynolds in that category. As far as Hr's go I see 12-15 a year

Might be a little reach but I think he is going to be good

I never did buy into him, even as a GENUINE Marlin's fan(rare), perhaps because i'm still bitter that we traded Miguel for him.

He's like my Mom's new boyfriend, who comes around and brings me lame presents, and tries to act cool, and ask me what my favorite guitar hero song is.

I HATE GUITAR HERO AND YOU'RE NOT MY DAD!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else cant stand the way he runs?

YES!!

So glad someone else noticed that. When he's done running he looks like he's limping. Almost like he's consistently injured or perhaps his legs just aren't built right. Looks odd.

I watched him extensively in AA ball the season before last. He just doesn't have the intensity or focus to develop into a elite ball player. I remember seeing him walking back to the dugout after a strikeout smiling a few times. I just don't think he has it upstairs.

He's improved drastically from 2 years ago. You can throw your "experience" out. He's solid.

You can throw your "opinion" out too. He's a bum.

::facepalm::
It has nothing to do with my opinion. He's improved since AA 2 years ago. That is a fact.
Sorry you don't agree. I'm hurt.
