RIP Rusty Staub...one of my first baseball memories was the 1973 World Series with Staub playing and not able to throw the ball due to an shoulder injury from the NLCS.

Two catchers go down, the minor league depth comes up and triples in his first at bat....joining pitcher Eric Cammack as the only ever Mets to do that (I think)

Yeah, catcher (and probably first base) are our weakest points going into the season, so I don’t think it hurts too much, but I think the future needs to be considered

So they release A-Gon due to lack of offensive production at 1B, and bring up a guy who is lacking offensive production at the same position in the hitter friendly PCL...I guess this is Smith last chance..... I hope Alonso gets the call if Smith doesn't produce, instead of another aging re-tread 1B'er...

They need to blow this up and start from scratch....Trade deGrom and Syndergaard while they have their highest value....Hell, they are in last place with them, they can be in last place without them.....
