Was going through my cousins childhood collection when we re discovered his 1978 Topps Wills "black circle" variation card.

Now, its NOT the 1979 Rangers/ BJ var Im talking about. It looks like someone at the Topps plant, for some reason, took a marker and circled the "Topps rookie cup" and ran it though the printing press.

We have known about this for over 20 years because we saw the EXACT SAME card at a show back in the late 80's and was wondering if anyone here knows of a sale of this card in the past.

Im pretty sure its never been listed in any guide. Anyone have any ideas or a copy of one they can post?

Again, I am totally, one hundred percent sure the circle was NOT done by either of us beause we saw the exact same card with circle at a show (my cousin still has the card).

Under a magnifying glass, does the black circle have ink dots or is it solid black. If it has dots, it was printed, and would be a variation. If it is solid, it's ink, and probably just considered an altered card.
