I found out through this site that Carl Yastrzemski was doing a very rare public signing today, so looked at the price lists, thought that the costs were insane for anything other than cards, and decided to pick up a few of a certain card to get signed. The cards came with PSA/DNA certs on site, and well figured it was a good investment, and a dream come true of a card to add to my collection.

Plus my wife went along with me, and asked for a certain picture with Carl. He obliged and although he seemed pretty surly to everyone, this got him to crack up, and since we were at the end of the line say "Man, I gotta get a break soon!"

Maine of course......
Great photos and thanks for sharing. Looks like Yaz is in pretty good spirits after a health issue earlier in the year. I'm curious too about the cost if you are willing to share.

Yaz was my favorite player as a kid (I am 43) and I had the opportunity to meet him at a car dealership in southern Maine when I was about 12 years old. I have a picture of me with him (and my little brother and a couple of our friends) that my oldest son keeps in his bedroom. The only negative of the experience was when Yaz got a break and he went out for a cigarette, which broke my heart.

I got Yaz to sign his book (which I foolishly removed from the book some years later to put in a scrap book) and an 8x10 which I still have.

It was 60 to have a card signed, it went up from there anything smaller than 11x14 was 135, 16x20 was like 145, jerseys and bats were 185 and proceeds went to Mass General Hospital Heart Center, which my grandfather spent a lot of time at when I was a kid.

quite reasonable for a card, especially those ones.

One guy told me I was crazy getting a rookie signed, and that it kills the value. I laughed.

It's funny most of the stories I heard yesterday of when Yaz used to do signings heavily involved him smoking during it. He did take one break yesterday, but that was to present his doctors who did his by pass with a donation for Mass General.

Thanks man, it was a fun day, I really didn't think we were going to get the picture since he really is a legit legend in Boston, but amazed that we did.
