If anyone is watching, I kind of like it without the commentators yapping it up the whole time.

It's a great idea. Wish they would do it on radio as well.

What is the reason for the silent inning?

I think they wanted fans to enjoy the sounds of the ballpark.

That was one of the worst experiments ever if you ask me. In case anyone missed it, here were the sounds of the ballpark:

"COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL-COWBELL"

i wish they had it for yankee games

yeah, what Ive noticed from these silent innings before is you get a true feel for how popular the announcer is.

I remember when the Mariners had it with HOF Dave Niehaus.... everyone was kinda pissed

The Mets announcers are stellar; they're the only thing that make the games watchable right now. Gary Cohen is a true pro and Ron Darling can be the color man for any team in baseball. Keith Hernandez? You either love him or hate him, and for me it's definitely the former.

I thought it was funny too.

You would hear the ball hit the bat, the crowd would go wild, and you could sit there wondering what the hell just happened. FUN!
