Mets Agree To Two-Year Deal With Francisco
By Luke Adams [December 6, 2011 at 9:04pm CST]
The Mets appear determined to fill out their entire bullpen this evening. The team has agreed to a two-year deal with Frank Francisco, pending a physical, tweets Ken Davidoff of Newsday. Francisco is the third reliever the Mets have added to the fold tonight, following their signing of Jon Rauch and their trade for Ramon Ramirez.

Francisco will close for the Mets, with Rauch setting up, tweets Davidoff. The Blue Jays employed a similar set-up in their bullpen for much of the season, and will receive compensation picks for both Francisco and Rauch. In his lone season in Toronto, Francisco posted a 3.55 ERA with 9.4 K/9 and 17 saves.

Giants Acquire Pagan From Mets For Torres, Ramirez
By Luke Adams [December 6, 2011 at 8:56pm CST]
The Giants and Mets have agreed on a deal that will send Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez to New York and Angel Pagan to San Francisco, tweets Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The deal is pending physicals, Sherman reports (via Twitter).

All three players are arbitration eligible, and Torres in particular was a candidate to be non-tendered next week. Both Torres and Pagan were valuable as regulars in 2010 but struggled in 2011, though the Mets were expected to tender Pagan a contract.

Prior to the Giants' acquisition of Pagan, their outfield was expected to feature Aubrey Huff in left, Melky Cabrera in center, and Nate Schierholtz in right field. Given the defensive inadequacies of Huff and Cabrera, Pagan might be a well-used fourth outfielder in San Francisco. Pagan will be surely be motivated to earn regular playing time, as he's entering his contract year.

I'd say they won the trade. If Francisco is under $6M annually, it's good too.

Looks like they'll be Photoshopping Angel Pagan's jersey for the next 7 sets he has autos in.

12 Million over the next two-years.

Welp, top-end of what I was expecting.

I'll take the draft picks. FF and Rauch were an adventure anytime they took the mound.

So far 6 picks in the first 2 rounds for the Jays next year. I wonder if the Mets sign Kelly Johnson too.......

Im a lifelong Mets fan and I dont care who they get......
Too much heartbreak, and empty promises.

I will be buying me a new Miami Jersey with Reyes name on the back and will only go to one game next year (Reyes first game back!)

Go Miami!!!!!

Francisco is filthy when fully healthy, and Ramirez has been an above average reliever the past few years.

Rauch is getting old and is average at best, but can still be effective.

Good moves IMO. Better than paying K-Rod and Oliver Perez crazy money

They dont go all in on Reyes which shows they weren't committed to winning, yet they sign these guys to try and fool some fans into believing the Wilpons actually care about winning. Just trade Wright and Santana for whatever prospects they can get and go all in on the rebuilding project. No NY should have to rebuild like this but when you have owners who dont care(or cant let go) this is what you get.
