I remember a guy pulling this card (not the same serial number) back in my hometown the year it was released. He was in the newspaper saying he was going to put it in a safety deposit box and all that. I believe he sold it for between $11,000-15,000 back in the day, which was a crazy price for a card back then. I always liked this card except for the "credit card" style with rounded corners and Jordan being in an All-Star jersey. If I had an extra $30,000 laying around, I'd have bought it too based on the historical significance. Thanks for posting this, brings back memories.
Back in 98 the owner of a very small card shop near my house pulled one of these Jordan autographed jersey cards. He didn't know how to best maximize his sale. I told him about eBay and that I was starting to sell cards on there. The owner had me take the card home and scan the card for a listing. I did just that and returned the card to him. I was going to list the card that next weekend, but he already sold it. I guess the guy got an offer he couldn't refuse....$2000. ::facepalm::
I couldn't believe it. I would have sold a kidney to come up with $2000 to buy that card from him. I had no idea he was going to let it go so cheap. The greatest single missed card purchase of my life...and I even had the card in my hands at home!
