Michael Taylor is tearing up the minors and will be knocking on the major league door before we know it. He has put up monster numbers and will soon see AAA. What is attractive about him from an investment POV is that he has limited product available. His chrome cards are from 2007 and does not have an auto until 2008. Which brings me to the question.....Rank for me his best auto:


Elite /720
Contenders /362
Prime Cuts /249

My feeling is Contenders due to name recognition, rookie on the front of the card and no number other than faith in what donruss says is the print run. However, I see the Elite selling for 30 and the Contenders selling for 15? What am I missing here? Where does Prime Cuts fit in to the mix?

Elite has more name recognition in baseball IMO. Contenders is really popular among football collectors and Prime Cuts it pretty new. Contenders could catch on ,but I like Elite.

They released print runs but then back doored a bunch of extras. The stated print run for Hunter Pence is 30 and I would be willing to be there are closer to 100 than 30. In fact, 41 have been graded by BGS, no idea how many by PSA.

I really like this auto!!!

But, for '08 autos, I think the Elites are the way to go.

I personally don't like the look of the Contenders or Prime Cuts.

Wow, you compared him to R.Howard too? I thought I was alone on that boat (was this in the BMB days because there were very few who had anything good to say about Taylor...he was either too old, too tall, or too heavy.... oh & I heard too slow at the plate once or twice)!

Honestly, I would say this is a good deal (& I would still be buying at this price myself if it weren't for the simple fact that I'm sitting on a pretty big stack of them already that I bought early on for $8-10 dlvd...


On a side note, the Contenders recently sold for $28.50 dlvd so it isn't too far off in terms of SV... I can say from my experience tracking these price's over the past month's & from own opinion (as I'm sitting on a nice sized stash of them all), I think they rank in the following order:

1-EEE

2- Basically I say Prime Cuts is 2a & Contenders is 2b but it fully depends on how the title reads in the auction! If a Contenders is represented as an SP with the stated print run of /362 then I see it pulling in the same as the Prime Cuts #d/249...BUT, if the Contenders leaves out the SP aspect it will fall a good $5-$8ish less than the Prime Cuts advertised at #d/249)


Did anyone see the M.Taylor Orange Refractor STEAL for $100 BIN??? Dangit, I'm kicking myself- :evil: :evil: ::facepalm::

About 5 minutes after I put my taylor elite auto on ebay someone already contacts me about it and just sold it off of ebay for $25. Very happy since a little while ago I was ready to sell the card for about $10!
