Since Mantle is so heavily forged I have always passed on unauthenticated or certified items. Yes those could have slipped by grading etc. I would say that buying a raw mantle is dicey.

Yeah but most that are forged look forged.Usually members jump right on a fake auto.

Now I am not an auto expert by any means, but the 'c' in Mickey looks kind of funky to me. Anyone else?

Not if you are knowledgeable with the Mick's auto. I've yet to see a questionable Mantle with a coa from the top 2 TPA's.

Plenty of good flips on ebay if you know autographs.

I've looked at more Mantles than any other autograph, and was lucky to get several IP. I am getting fairly good at spotting typical fakes (and there are TONS of them). I dont necessarily look at individual letter formation, but more of a sum total judgement. That being siad, the c does looks a little different, but I would attribute that to a variance within the norm. This one isn't a typical fake, and my gut says its real. Take that for what it's worth, which is very little.
