...I was actually just thinking about this. As im sure you guys know, im a collector first and for most but the "Investing" side of the card hobby also interests me as well. So i was thinking with the Atlanta Thrashers making their move to Winnipeg, Canada soon, would it not make sense to start investing in a bunch of Rookie Cards of the young Thrashers Young Guns?

Winnipeg is already a great "Hockey Card City" with many collectors already, but with the city getting an NHL team now, i would imagine this will attract a bunch of new collectors not to mention "reignite the fire" in former collectors as well.

And what cards are these people gonna be looking for?

Well id imagine they are all gonna want cards of the Young Thrashers (Winnipeg Jets? Manitoba Moose?) players like Evander Kane and Alexander Burmistov Etc. Might be a good time to start investing in some high end RCs of these guys...

Thoughts?

I haven't tracked it at all (masonphil's next project?) but I would have guessed prices have already gone up on those guys and when/if the word goes official (tomorrow?), they would bump up again. I think it would take some on-ice success for them to go up again, and I think that might be too far away to make it worthwhile.

Just my two cents...

Yeah, i haven't really looked in to it at all either, but i wonder if some of these guys have already seen a price bump? After the "official" announcement im sure we will see (another) bump. I'm really thinking though, that once the new season officially starts and the Winnipegers actually start seeing these guys playing in their city, thats when the "bandwagon" fans/collectors will really start buying.

I think it'd be hilarious if people invested in Thrashers RCs and then the Thrashers ended up staying put.

I've already got my stash of Kane, Burmistrov, and Pavelec. Wasn't planning on dumping them IF they move. I'm still crossing my fingers they stay put. Kane's stuff was never cheap because he's Canadian and you're fighting his hometown crowd in Vancouver.

I think they might go up a bit, but with the prices would already be low because the Thrashers didn't attract a whole lot of attention.

Guys like Kane, Little and Burmistrov might see a bit of a bump, but I think the biggest surge will be for the first RCs of guys in Jets jerseys (if they end up moving).

Even if they move, they're not going to be the Jets.

I hope they end up being the Moose. I have a Burmi YG /100 and a Kane Limited Logos but they're both PC so it would take a drastic jump for me to move them.

I think you are right about that.

Anyone know off hand when the Thrashers are drafting this year?

Sell either of them and I am punching you in the dick at the national.

I'm in a position to make a killing if/when there is a jump. Because once the thrashers leave, I am pretty much done with the NHL. This whole deal is F###ED

Amen to that. Too much BS with the ASG and too much BS with the NHL.
