The entire Angels fan base would disagree with your assumption - Angels would not be sniffing around for postseason play without what Trout has done this year.

And the Tigers would be where without Cabrera? Come on, man.

One HR from leading every category now after another tonight.

Dude is beasting right now. Would love to see a Triple Crown happen. My buddies and I have a bet on which triple crown will happen first MLB or Horse racing. Each of us throws $10 in to the pot each year it doesn't happen. We started it about 12 years ago so there is a bit of money in there now. 3 of us have MLB and 3 others have Horses. Whichever happens first splits the pot.

Trout has had an incredible rookie campaign. With that being said, triple crown or not, I think Cabrera has put up the numbers that deserve the award. He's been sort of snubbed a couple times now, and how can you overlook his stats. If Detroit makes the playoffs or not, they wouldn't be close without Cabrera. As of the game tonight, he's hitting close to .335, 130 RBI, 101 Runs, 41 HR w/a couple weeks left to play. Detroit is a rival of mine, but give credit where it is due. Has been an average or better 3B. I think he is well deserving

There have been a few different years where he could have or even should have won it. If they overlook him and give him the snub yet again this year with the best numbers of his career and when his offensive numbers are better than anyone else's in the game, I'm not sure he'll ever win one.

Since this is a card related board, assuming he did win the triple crown, how big of an effect would it be for his cards?

There's never been a triple crown winner in the modern collecting world.

Initial impact strong. Long range impact ehhh. Yaz's cards aren't in demand & he won the TC & is a HOFer.

His Topps Traded Auto has seen a nice spike recently. Although I think it warrants long term increases, I would not be surprised if this bump is temporary. For some reason his cards fluctuate a lot, but tend to settle for the most part after any excitement.

Try telling that to my wallet, last card of his i bought costed me 1200.00 the one before that 1250.00 and that was via aution starting at .99. As for Cabrera i agree short term affect, long term they will settle. By winning the triple crown though i feel all his card that have settled prices will be up 5-20% moving forward!

I think it will happen. Josh wont pay today, who knows when he will be back in the line-up. If the Rangers clinch soon, expect him to sit until the play-offs.

3 games left, Cabrera is +.002 in BA (Mauer second), tied for the lead in HR with 43 (Hamilton), and he's +10 RBI (Hamilton second)

I think if he gets 5 more hits with 2 more homers, he for sure takes the Triple Crown.

I am pulling for him. I would love to see such a rare feat.

Home run #44 for Cabrera today, and 3 for 4 so far in the 7th inning.
Mauer went 1 for 5, so Cabrera is pulling away in batting average.
