Has anyone been paying attention to Mike Carp lately? He's been unreal this season, but whats he done lately is just ridiculous. He's been playing LF lately so that he can take over Peguero/Mike Wilson slot soon or if Cust falls off the deep end, there too. I don't know if I've ever seen a hot streak like this...

LAST 10 GAMES.

AVG .522, 7 HR's, 17 R's, 19 RBI's, 6 BB's, and only 6 K's.

For the season he's batting .349, 19 HR's, 58 RBI's. He seems like a veteran at this point but hes still just 24 years old. He's not been on the hot list once this season by BA, but hes on one of the hottest streaks I've ever seen in minor league baseball. Tonight alone he was 4 for 6 with 2 HR's and 7 RBI's... and the M's scored 1 run against an 0-8 John Danks. I think with Mike Wilson not doing anything, he will be called up in the next 48 hours.

So does anyone notice or care at this point?

EDIT

Tacoma Top of the 4th
Offensive Substitution: Pinch hitter Ryan Langerhans replaces Mike Carp.

YAY!

Re: Mike Carp - Wow

Another great year so far for Carp. What a difference a team makes. If he was on say the Yanks, Red Sox, or Braves there would be lots of hobby love for him.

Is he the real deal?

He's batting around .400 since coming back up last month, holds the longest hitting streak in baseball at 20 games and has been one of the best hitters overall in baseball over the past month or two. He's still young as he just turned 25, everyone talks about Justin Smoak like hes a young pup but hes only 7 months younger than Carp. His line at AAA this year is .343, 21 HR's 64 RBI's and he's been hitting better than that in the majors this year.

The JJ Putz deal is the gift that keeps on giving, Franklin Gutierez, Vargas, and Carp were all part of that deal.

As the the owner of what has to be at least the third largest stash of Carp FY BCs and SP Prospect Autos, I sure hope he can keep this up. Carp was one of those guys that I thought I was just going to have to eat the loss on once he was traded away from the Mets. Hopefully, we'll continue to see an upsurge in his prices that will last (at least to some extent) until I get back into the country in December.

I had a lot of faith in his hitting ability when he was with the Mets so I believe he's the real deal but I obviously don't think he can keep up the pace he's currently on.
