CINCINNATI -- Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested on a shoplifting charge at a downtown department store Monday, accused of trying to steal six shirts with a total value of $59.88.

The 23-year-old starter was booked at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. It carries a maximum of 180 days in jail. ::facepalm:: ::facepalm:: ::facepalm::

Same reason Winona Ryder, and most shoplifters, in fact. It's not about getting the thing, although there is sometimes that compulsion. But the root cause is more about attention, some sort of masochistic tendency. I'd wonder about it in a pro athlete, though. Seems like a very, very strange thing to do, and makes me wonder about his makeup.

As rich as he is, this is only something you would do if you were totally **** faced on some wacked out drugs. More than likely he was on major Oxycontin at the time he did the shoplifting.
