Just talked to someone who is a pretty big deal at topps and he's saying Leake will be the redemption. Also, i have it on good authority the next redemption will be #5...

he definitely deserves it. hope #5 is posey or stanton and 6 is strasburg, but i can see topps holding him until the end to keep finest selling. The right thing to do is to make him the #10 auto.

The only redemption I have is the #10, so I agree with this post.

Damn. Leake's stuff has been heating up to new highs lately, but they're really going to announce anyone but Strasburg, Stanton or Posey when the hype from these three guys is overshadowing everyone?

I own two #4s so obviously I was hoping for someone a little bigger, but regardless, I'm not sure I understand the logic behind this choice by Topps. Since they already overlooked Leake early on in the season, why not just save him until there isn't another hot prospect (or three in this case) who have had very hot debuts within the last week?

That's what I was thinking too. Then I realized doesn't it really not make any difference?
Whether Strasburg is 5 or 10 - people will buy the box trying to hit the redemption. I guess it does keep the value up on the unknown redemptions and gives some hope to anyone holding 5-10....so maybe that is worth something, but by the same token it seems announcing it earlier and confirming his place in the set would also drive up sales.

Guess either way Topps wins. :lol:

Either way Topps wins and lots of buyers lose. It's not Topps' fault that people want to speculate on who will be which redemption, but when there are a couple seemingly obvious picks for the player who will be on the card (who will all sell well...e.g., Stanton, Stras, Posey) and Topps throws a curveball and goes with someone else (who won't sell as well because he's been around all year), it is the buyers of these cards who lose money.

Then again, if you bought in long enough ago, you will come out ahead regardless

Strasburg will NOT be #10, if he is, he will also have a non-autographed version earlier. I think they use him twice in these redemptions. Too easy to say he is #10, I say #6.

Posey is not eligible is he? he had a RC logo card last year. So he cant be a RC again this year. Also i have two #4's which i wish i had sold when everyone thought it would be strasburg. Glad i have six #5's.
