There will be no Southern, Carolina, California, Midwest and South Atlantic League games today (tomorrow will be their All-Star Games).

However, Rookie Ball begins today, with the exception of the Appy League, which starts tomorrow.

Today's notables include:

Stetson Allie (Pro Debut)
Adam Warren
Jordan Swagerty
Julio Teheran
Lance Lynn
Chris Dwyer vs. Christian Friedrich
Robbie Erlin
Shelby Miller
Eric Arnett (2011 debut) - still rooting for the kid to figure it out
Asher Wojciechowski
Brody Colvin

Really shocked to see Chevez Clarke, Ryan Bolden, and Soto repeat Arizona Complex ball. Perfect example of what happens when a team has multiple picks in the 1st round and opts for the low risk/ high ceiling award. It failed the 2005 Marlins and looks like its going to fail the the 2010 Angels.

Bichette, Jr. is supposed to be playing for the GCL Yanks already. And Ravel Santana should be ready to go.

EDIT: Game is already underway with Santana leading off, David Adams rehabbing, Bichette batting 3rd, and slugger Yeicok Calderon batting 5th. Gabe Encinas pitching. Should be one hell of a team.

Last year's draft was an absolute debacle. Cowart was the only one who wasn't a stretch at #18. I like what Cowart, Lindsey and Tillman bring to the table but the jury is still out with our other high picks.

Shelby Miller is playing rookie ball again? Is this a rehab stint or something?

No, he's in the Texas League. My list of notables covers the entire minor leagues.

Very good and surprising news. Up to about three weeks ago it looked like he might not be able to play at all this year.

They should probably just release all the 2010 draft picks right now. ::facepalm:: ::facepalm:: ::facepalm::

Some good news about Josh Sale. Very excited to see both him and Justin O'Conner tear it up in Princeton.

  • 2011 Princeton Rays outfielder Josh Sale is one of those hitters. In the P-Rays' first practice on June 18, the 19-year-old wowed his teammates at batting practice by closing out his session with six consecutive pitches hit over the fence for tape measure home runs. The Seattle native is ready for his first taste of professional baseball.

Ugh. Absolute worst time of year. So much extra work, no extra pay.

Ugh. Your life is just so hard compiling stats for minor league baseball.
