well, I would have bet 20 bucks that #7 wouldn't be on the list at all.
also, sad day when there's one pitcher in your top ten.
speaking of that, he's still ranked too high.

I think the only 'guaranteed' guy on that list is Alcides Escobar. I know most Brewer fans are really excited with him, and I'm sure the rest of the baseball world will be too when they see him on web-gems night after night. I wonder how many of these guys would be graded an A, I'm guessing if any, it's Alcides, with a steady drop down from there.

AA is going to have another exciting season in store, assuming we'll see Cain, Jeffress, Lucroy, Green, Gillespie, and eventually Lawrie, Brewer, Gindl, Haydel, Siedel, Braddock, Periard - Oh man, bring it on!

As for the list in my opinion.. I'd drop down Salome and Jeffress a couple notches for their flaws, and bring up Lucroy, Green, and Cain for their upsides. Cain finally cemented himself with me (after 2 years of doubt) late this past season and in the AFL.
Cutter Dykstra, really?

I really love Cain and cant wait to watch him for another season in AA. I am also very optimistic when it comes to Gindl. I wish we didnt have so many catchers with potential. I'm not sure if Salome will ever fully develope into a major league defensive and game calling catcher.

Jeffress is in store for i think a solid year and Taylor Green is right where he belongs on the list.

i still think Gillespie is too low and is Lawrie really deserving of #3?

Also best athlete Brent Brewer? not too sure about that one

Also not too sure about best baserunner either.

Either way i love our system

I know Brewer is a great athlete but not sure if anybody is better?

I like Lawrie a lot and think he will be an all star one day.

I also thought Odorizzi would sneak in there.

I second that

I held a poll to decide which one I posted, maybe I'll do another tomorrow, so Reds fans unite...tomorrow. :)

I'll tell you one of your recent international signings was placed a lot higher than I figured, or to be more accurate...over Soto.

Cutter Dykstra over Brent Brewer, Odorizzi, Gindl, not to mention Green, Gillespie and Lucroy?

Simply ridiculous.

I've been waiting for this list for a year too. Glad to see my boy Salome getting some love though.

Also, I totally don't mean to complain about the system though. Still a top ten system if you ask me.

Give this list a half year next year, and Cain will be top 3.

Top 3? I'd say #1 isn't out of the question.
Once Escobar and Gamel are called up, depending on how long BA ranks them on lists, he's the next best thing (and could end up better than everyone on that current list)

The sights for Lawrie must be so high that they expect him to lead the Southern League in everything Salome did (which was many offensive categories) Did Salome get hitter or the year in the Southern League? If he didn't he should have. So by putting Lawrie at #3 they are not only saying they expect him to accomplish that and more offensively, but also to throw out more batters than Lucroy (hard to do) and be a better defensive catcher. I think it's early to say all that, and kind of a snub to those guys who've been around a tad longer.
Jeffress' fastball is keeping him this high on the list for longer than most players get credit for. He's going to have to get it together very fast this year to be still ranked that high come June. Besides his fastball, all he has are struggles and glimpses of hope - something BA always doesn't give you credit for.
Not to knock on any of those guys, I like em all, but I'm just saying, in a half year, Lorenzo could be the #1 prospect.

1 - Alcides Escobar - we get it, he's the best one, should be called up.
2 - Mat Gamel - Not going to be a 3b, will have to play outfield (good) to be worthy of a high spot - and it could get crowded out there.
3 - Brett Lawrie - unproven, although optomistic, but still my 3rd favorite catcher.
4 - Jeremy Jeffress - needs to show he can start using secondaries consistanly, hasn't, will need a full year to do so, at least.
5 - Angel Salome - I call him mini-thing (like the fantastic four dude) built as wide as he is tall, strong, and hands like rocks.
6 - Lorenzo Cain - hard to find a flaw, going to be #1 midway through next year.
7 - Cutter Dykstra - This name was pulled out of a hat.
8 - Taylor Green - The real third basemen of the future, and has better numbers than Gamel at the same level.
9 - Cole Gillespie - I'm still iffy, but a very viable OF option who never has bad years.
10 - Jonathan Lucroy - My pick to bunny-hop Salome, and make the Lawrie move to firstbase the only option. Offensive stats and defensive skills will push both guys off the plate.

The path for Lorenzo to be at the top is practically paved. Everyone above him will have to be absolutely stellar to keep him off and have everything fall into place, which is a long shot. This list is going to be neat to look at come June.

My money is on Lawrie being #1 next season. I believe in him very much, I think he'll be a special hitter, and if he gets moved I very much doubt it will be to 1B. That said, I've been a Lo-Cain fan since about 2005.

I like to be an optomist too, but I also like to see some time in the minors. 2nd base would be a nice move for him, but I think 3rd and outfield would be covered for a while. I said firstbase because that's a pretty big need we'll have to fill once Prince leaves, and there's nobody being prepped for that position. (Steffan Wilson maybe).
Just like Lorenzo Cain, I needed to see some time logged in before I could make a judgement. It took me a while because as high as his ceiling was, the chances that he couldn't put it together were just as likely, if not more, than what he's become so far. He was so raw his first year, and even 2, that I couldn't believe his blues were selling for 50+ (which is wierd, because now they're $15 and he's twice the prospect he was in 06)

So that being said, 2 years ago I would have scoffed at Lorenzo being a #1 guy in our system, same as I'm doing with Lawrie - but I certainly don't mind being proven wrong, but then again, I'm not wrong because I didn't say he wouldnt be. Just not yet.

The new guys never get too much love from me, but I'm always excited for 1st rounders like Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks, Mark Rogers, Ryan Braun, Jeremy Jeffress, (laporta) and Lawrie, but I don't like to buy into it right away without being shown something to solidify my belief. Of course, it's not stopping me from Odorizzi, but that's because I'm believing that SOMETHING good has to come from our young pitchers, and I'll take that gamble.
I sure hope Lawrie and Cain battle it out for the top spot. It's likely to happen, and that's not a fight I hate to see.
