RIP, Minnie. I've met him many times at Soxfest in Chicago. He was a good ambassador for the Sox.

RIP to a white Sox Legend. He will be missed. Baseballs and Chicago's first black/latino star. He hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat when he became major league baseball's first black player in Chicago in 1951.

He was the Jackie Robinson for Latino players.

Wow, sad news. I thought I just saw an article on Minnie that he was doing well. He missed HOF induction by four votes on the Veteran's ballot late last year. RIP......

Besides all his MLB feats he is remembered in my hometown of Hermosillo as a great player-manager. He even won a batting tittle in the Mexican Pacific League in his late 40s
