With the annoucement today, the fight between Carwin and Murr should NOT be for the Interim championship title.

It doesn't make sense. Why create a fake title just to have the first defense be against the real champion in a unification match?

And with what Dana said today about if something were to happen to the winner of the Mir/Carwin winner, the winner of Cain/Nog would get the crack at Brock for the title in the Summer.

What a bunch of ********. So then if that were to happen, we'd not get to see Brock vs Mir or Carwin, whichever one of them is the fake champion, for some time. And by the time either of those fights were to happen, Brock may not even be the REAL Champion anymore if somehow he were defeated by Nogueria or Cain.

This situation has epic bullshittery written all over it.

The fight should be for the #1 Contender to the Vanilla Gorilla's LEGIT Heavyweight Championship Title, not a paper championshit bout.

God I hate Interim titles.

What's the ******* purpose of having Ben Henderson fight Cowboy for the Interim title if their first defense is going to be against that bitch Jamie Varner? I just don't understand these things. Crock-O-**** they are! That's exactly what's happening with this situation.

Are you sure it's still for the fake belt? I figured that since he announced he's back they would just make it a regular match. If not then this is kinda ******* by Dana. The only reason they're making it for a fake belt is to sell tickets.

I really dont care either way. As long as we see some fights. It will all settle itself by the end of 2010.

I would love to see Carwin knock Brock out cold. Time will tell.

I dont even know why an interim title is needed.

Brock has a comeback date.

Couture didnt.

There is no need for the unification...especially if Mir wins.

If it's Brock/Mir III (which I wouldnt mind seeing..) Dana should not make the match happen.

Unfair, yes.

Does Mir deserve another shot so quick after getting his ass pounded and then beating Kongo, no.

From a marketing standpoint, it makes sense. People buy into the whole "champion vs champion" thing. Its all BS, but whatever. By 2011, everything will be back in order.

Im not so sure everything will be in order when if comes to the "unification" problems.

This problem is sure to arise again, and unless something is done to fix it, there will always be this conversation.

No interim title is needed.

Brock is still the champ and until someone beats him he will remain champion, and Randy was still champ until Brock beat him.

If Randy were to retire as champ, it should be noted that he never lost his title.

Same with Brock.

If Brock couldnt fight again, it should've been noted he had to retire as champion.

Interim titles suck, I see from marketing yes, but from a fighting standpoint, it sucks.

I think if a timetable is set on a guys return, no interim title should be created.

What if Brock gets injured during training?

Dana and teh UFC learned their lesson with Tito and BJ.
Tito was content to fight once a year. Bj destroyed Hughes and then bolted and Hughes beat GSP to win the title back.

Neither of those scenarios IMO are better than interim so you may as well let 2 contenders battle it out and a) keep them fresh and active b) make some money and c) build them up for a showdown with the the current champ (in this case Brock).

The organization CANNOT rely on its fighters to dictate (either purposely or not) the championship status.

The UFC had to make a decision while Brock was out. Now that he is going to return, its not really fair to Mir and Carwin that their match is now not a title match. As mentioned above, the UFC was covering its own ass in case Brock could not return. The whole thing is not a typical scenerio and I think its being dealt with appropriately.

The big question is whether Dana will let Brock fight knowing he is not 100%. Who knows what happens when Brock starts training heavy. Brock has lied before about his health. The Carwin/Mir fight should be a great one. I have no problem with Mir/Lesnar III. Its worth my $44.99.
