Boy the Braves lineup really just looks awful without McCann in there. Getting blanked by Kyle Lohse and losing 1-0 with Jo-Jo throwing 2-hit ball.

I see Hamels is hurt again. Any insight from Phillies fans? Yahoo says sprained left ankle.

I love the Sox, but their fascination with Julio Lugo is just inexplicable. The guy is so bad it's scary. Drops a routine throw at second of what should have been a double play, but instead everyone is safe and it leads to the Indians tying it up. And now, since Lugo came up, Bowden is back in the minors and we have no long reliever after Penny gives up 7 through 2.2.

I can't say it's a "fascination." They gave him a big contract and it's hard to just not use the guy at that point. That said, this is his first game of the season and Nick Green is the AAAA alternative (might even be kind calling him that). It isn't like there's someone else that needs to be playing there.

I'm watching this game. Hughes is even more impressive tonight than those numbers indicate.

It's a good thing for us Tigers fans that Edwin Jackson is matching him pitch for pitch. I think the Jackson for Joyce trade will be the steal of the year.

Yeah I've had it on from the first pitch. I made it a point to see how Hughes would do. He has been squeezed multiple times on borderline pitches also. It's a very strong outing.

No, it's a fascination because Theo wanted this guy (and Drew) for two or three years before they were brought in. I've never seen what the big deal was.

I hope Liriano picks it up. Don't look now but Wandy Rodriguez is doing very well. Tonight he has 7 IP with 2 walks and 5 Ks 1 ER and an ERA of 1.69 in five starts.

Wandy is healthy and it shows...

Too bad pitching isn't the astros problem right now... although the offense is showing up tonight

Its clear to me that the sox have no problem giving Lowrie every opportunity to be the starting SS but he won't be this year unless Lugo gets hurt again

Um, I think Hughes will win.

10 run 7th capped by a Jose Molina grand slam.

Green batted almost .300 in his time as the starter, and while he wasn't stellar in the field, he didn't make the horrific errors that Lugo constantly makes. Plus, they won 11 in a row with him. Why not just ride the streak out and wait for Green to prove that he doesn't deserve it?
