Besides die hard baseball fans, who is going to go see this?

die hard pitt fans...die hard jonah hill fans (yes they exist), die hard PTH fans....movie aficionados...
I dont see it.

Because you know the story. To those that don't know moneyball it's an underdog sports movie with big names, that tells the story of a team breaking out of the old ways and shaking things up to win.

Maybe if there were a few more latinos. Tejada isn't even being played by a Latino, Royce Clayton for life.

They really didn't win anything, just made the playoffs and some division titles big whoop. Are they going to follow up on their AWESOME draft that is the key to the last half of the book and point out how many failures came from it?

Are they going to follow up with the fact they haven't been able to compete since they traded off their 3 big aces?

To me its a farce of a movie about a team that didn't win anything and their big draft strategy was full of crap.

I wouldn't venture to guess how accurate the movie will be. Someone saw a story, and most likely embellished and disregarded facts to make a movie that will sell tickets. They aren't marketing this movie to diehard baseball fans, which is why it can be successful. Obviously those who know the story and know what really happened with the A's will see it differently. Some will still be able to turn that knowledge off and enjoy the movie for what it is even if it isn't accurate.

The schmaltzy tone of the trailer worked on me...I'd much rather have seen an organization like Oakland win a title much much more than New York or even the Red Sox. I've always wanted the underdog to win, over the last several years I've come to realize Boston isn't an underdog anymore.

Looks good. My wife is a big Pitt fan, of course, so that will make it a little more bearable for her to watch too, lol.

Agreed, but how dare you talk badly of their draft?

#18 - Nick Swisher - successful major leaguer, traded to Chicago White Sox after 2007, traded to New York Yankees after 2008
#24 - Joe Blanton - successful major leaguer, traded to Philadelphia Phillies
#26 - John McCurdy - out of professional baseball since 2006
#30 - Ben Fritz - had Tommy John surgery, currently in minor leagues
#35 - Jeremy Brown - has had small stints of time in the majors, retired prior to the 2008 season.
#37 - Stephen Obenchain - retired after a lack of success at the A and AA levels
#39 - Mark Teahen - successful major leaguer, traded to the Kansas City Royals and is currently with the Chicago White Sox
#67 - Steve Stanley - topped out in AAA for the A's
#98 - Bill Murphy - traded three times and debuted with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007
#128 - John Baker - traded to the Florida Marlins and debuted and became the starting catcher in 2008.
#158 - Mark Kiger - traded several times, now with the AA affiliate of the New York Mets (Binghamton Mets)
#188 - Brian Stavisky - currently with the AA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies
#218 - Brant Colamarino - currently with the AA affiliate of the A's

I preface this by saying this is really stupid reasoning, BUT, people will go see this just because it has Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in it...

People are fans of Jonah Hill for his comedy, this is not a comedic role. And it is Brad Pitt playing Billy Beane, not a leading man or an action character.

You overestimate the intelligence of the average american. A lot of people are swayed by big names and don't put much thought into it.
