I'll see him the 2nd week of the season. I'm going to get a bat signed by him and maybe another ball for one of my friends.

I disagree with this move.

Why? He pretty much destroyed AA up till the hand injury.

Plus Romine has to move up to AA after winning the high A MVP.

i'd just like to see more than 160 AB. I'd have no problem leaving him there for 120-150 AB with a focus on walks and selection. I'm sure he'll do fine in triple-a, but I'm of the belief that double-a AB's are far and away the most important for player development.

I'm not familiar with the Yankees current catching situation at the top, but the only reason to start montero in AAA is that you want him up before rosters expand.

I'm not really disputing anyone that believes that starting him in triple-a removes the risks of an adjustment period. Personally, I just don't see the point of rushing the kid unless you plan on using him this year.

I'd rather have him at 300 AA AB and 150 AAA AB instead of 150 AA AB and 300 AAA.

I also disagree with this move. Montero is not AAA ready by any means. After watching him in AA this year, I can tell you for a fact. His defense is mediocre, but his bat is the only reason that he probably was awarded the AAA start. I too would like to see him with more than 160 AB's. He needs to show me more in AA. I am a huge fan of Montero, but I question this move a lot.

I can tell you the Yankees are much more interested in Montero's bat then his defense.

It is not a life threatening decision, if he performs he will stay, if not back to Trenton...

I think it is a great move to try advancing his bat, he will see more breaking stuff and a better array of talent.

Yeah, but at least I would have given him one more month in AA. I understand what you are saying in terms of the bat > defense aspect, but he needs to develop a bit more. Why rush the kid coming off of an injury year? He got hurt on August 1 I believe and he played poorly in the Winter League as well. Let the kid get back on track!

I think they moved him up so his bat could develop against AAA pitchers while he will be able to get better at catcher.

There is no way that Romine was staying in A and Montero and Romine won't be able to both learn to catch full time in AA.

There was no spot for Montero to learn to catch fultime in AA,
so they had to move him up to AAA or both Montero and Romine would lose value as catchers.

I'm hearing the Yankees may be talking with the Marlins about Johnson.

Hopefully the, "he'll be playing in AAA" comment didn't mean he'll be playing in the national leage east!
