Montgomery Grading Q

Should I spend $350 to have 34 Montgomery Blue Refractors graded via 20-day BGS service?

Yes, but you would get a better rate at that service level going through the FCB Group Sub.
I'm aware, but many of my cards regrade at a 9.5 after missing the cut in a large submission.

Don't forget, I alone sent BGS over 5,000 cards in 2006.

With my submission of only those cards, I feel they will be better evaluated.

Personal preference on this one lot.

Take a shot, Mike. You might even get a 10 or two, who knows.

Not that I'm naive, but I really like to wish this is not true.

For me, experience wins out over heresy every time.

OK, folks. We'll see right here what value grading has on your cards.

I only sent in the gold and orange refractors that I would grade as gem mint. The count was 5 orange, 12 gold.

With 34 blue refractors, I didn't bother to discriminate.

Total fees for a 20-day turnaround including insurance and return shipping (not including about $40 in shipping fees via registered and insured mail) is $670.00 USD.

Let's see how much gain I, as a consumer, receive from this service.

To be continued...

The way I see it, you could hit on a Pristine 10 on just one of those, and be nearly covered, especially if it's a Gold or Orange.

Figure the rest at 25% Gem (just estimating, I don't know your usual number), and you're set.

After taking a look at the BGS population report, it's a no-brainer. There is a grand total of only 1 blue ref graded. It's a 9.5, but it's the only BGS graded blue. When ready to sell you will have the market for graded blues.
