Alright, so now that I have my first cup of coffee, I have to share my douchiest eBay experience ever.

So, I made an offer on a card last night. Thought it was a fair offer, but a little in my favor of course ;)

Seller rejects it. No counter-offer. Bumped my offer by a good amount. Rejected. No communication.

So I decide to send them a message before I make my 3rd offer, asking what it is they're looking for. I
explain that I have a good amount of these cards, and what they usually go for. Today, I get this.
We are looking for closer to $XX due to the rarity of the autograph having an inscription. Thank you
So, I'm contemplating bumping my offer to my upper limit, or telling them to eff off, and explaining to them how stupid and petty they are

Good morning George, Josh.

What'd they do wrong? I don't get it... if there's something rarer about this card wit hthe inscription, I don't see the problem with wanting a premium for it.

Good morning George, Josh.

Sounds like they could have the auto-decline function on, I wouldn't take it personal. Honestly, if I had a card up and the price offered wasn't remotely close (I don't know the offer or price of the card in question), I wouldn't counter either. IE if I had a card up for $100 and bottom dollar I know I'd take was $90 and someone offered $60, I would just auto-decline or decline and just say no thanks the lowest I can go is $90. I wouldn't haggle b/c I know their offer isn't close to what I'd take.

No, it wasn't an auto-decline. It took a few hours each time.

They are marketing it as if Dawson decided to inscribe this particular card. It just
happens to be the sticker that DLP decided to put on the card. Besides, Dawson
inscriptions such as: "MVP 87" and "ROY 77" are not that rare.

Their BIN on it is out of the question to begin with, and I made more than a fair offer, IMO.

Truth be told, I'd rather not hear your opinion Jeff. You seem to take the counter-point on everything,
and I don't think we need it in the Morning Thread, sorry.

There goes that theory. If the price is that crazy, I say move on. Unless its a 1/1 at some point you'll find it again. I know burbank has some nice maddux auto stuff I want, but I just laugh when I see the price and hear them tell me they can come $100 off a card they have listed for $2300 that I've seen sell for $300. I love this hobby!!! ::facepalm::

I didn't take the counterpoint, I asked for more information as to why what the seller did wrong in the first place. Perhaps, as a ebay buyer and seller, I was looking for what was in your mindset that was so wrong, so that I didn't offend a potential customer.

That being said, rest assured I'll never respond to a post of yours. Thanks for the negativity.

Don't even get me started on Burbank

Unfortunately, it's /10, which makes the inscription premium even more silly.
I'd liken it to them wanting a premium for it being #'d 10/10 or something like that.

Just accept the fact that any card owned by Burge or Burbank will not enter your possession. If more of us accepted that, perhaps it would hurt their bottom line more.

morning everyone.

Brian keep your head up man. although I don't know you personally I can tell you are a great guy and wish you the best of luck. make sure you stop by for some FCB time. it cures all.

well since I know Dave already knows what happened...

the Red Sox won 9-8. they came back 3 times during the game and won it in the 9th thanks to some poor umpiring by the home plate ump who called a 3rd strike on Nick Green ball 4. the bases were loaded and the tying run scored. Alex Gonzalez then hit an rbi single to left and the Sox won.

the Pirates were swept by the Dodgers

I already have. Ocassionally, they will have a deal to be found however. Unless that's the case there are plenty of us who refuse to give them any business.

Love or Hate Burbank/Teawolves they are good for the hobby. They own cards and set market prices, for this reason other people will list rare cards so you will buy theirs for 1/2 of a Burbank price, in reality the card should have sold for 1/4 a Burbank price. Look how many people sold off rare cards after Burbank bought the collection, card movement is good for the hobby.

Many people have asked me to buy 1993 refractors or other 90s inserts. I tell them my price and it is based on what I have into the card, not what it would/has sold for on ebay. Yeah, I dont sell much.
