G'morn gents & gals!

For Andrew, I came across this Jack London photo on Facebook...

995717_10201703900505196_1171095985_n.jpg

"The Famous American Author Jack London with three deaf friends: William Allen Tilley of Tiburon, Douglas Tilden, sculptor, Oakland, and Ganville Redmond, landscape painter & movie actor with Charlie Chaplin, Los Angeles. Taken November, 1916 at Sonoma Wine Country in Glen Ellen, California. Just a few days before the death of Jack London on November 22, 1916."

Awesome! I hadn't seen that one before. Thanks, Frosty.

Got a couple nice mailers today.

First came from our very own Doc Calfas. He sent me an Annie Duke relic card and an awesome Jose Oquendo Fan Favorites auto! I didn't have either one. Score! Thanks GC!

Then, got back into the TTM game and sent out my first requests in over a year last Monday. Already got my first response and it was an awesome one.

Bobby Knoop, the other half of the great Fregosi-Knoop double play combo. And no, I am not kidding. Look it up and you will see that they were pretty impressive in the 60's for the Angels at the top of the diamond. Personalized and everything!

What happened, Zac?

This morning we were prepping an area to plant some grass seed. We tilled it, and were raking the weeds out of it and then raking it to make it nice and even. Well he got upset with me because I was setting my rake into the dirt too much, so you were able to see where I started each stroke. He got upset with me about it so I told him sorry I can't do it as well as you and something about how I didn't go to the navy to learn how to do this. To make it even better was that before we put the grass seed in, he took the Gator over it with a lawn roller to level it all out. So what was wrong with my rake dropping a little too much? He was leaving tire ruts in it. And what made it even better was that he was speechless after I "challenged his authority." He had no clue what to say back to me. About 10-15 minutes later he was trying to act like my buddy.

I probably shouldn't have said anything about the Navy, but he was in the Navy for 25 years and still thinks he's in the Navy. I understand that when you do something for that long it will take some time to adjust to civilian life, but that doesn't mean you run your workers into the ground like he was used to. To make it even worse, he was on Admiral Staff for some time at the end of his career so he's used to telling people what to do and then standing there watching. Yes, his job title is "Maintenance Supervisor" but with only 3 maintenance members on staff, he is to be doing just as much work as we are.

Then to make everything better, the other maintenance guy, the guy who does the most work and knows more about what we are or SHOULD be doing, got after him after we laid the seed down. Instead of just raking the seed into the dirt we already had laid down, we had to take shovels and throw dirt on top of the seed. This guy has already had two hernias from working out there, and he laid into our maintenance "supervisor."

Good Evening Gents! Just got to our lodge on Jackson Lake in the Grand Tetons. We were backpacking the last three nights and four days so it is very refreshing to be clean again :) heading out to a good dinner now but here are a couple picks during the 17 mile backpacking trip:

Me too. I'm glad this job gets over in August, but that also means that I need to go back up to school

Well, I got some good news. The transmission didn't blow on my car, it was just a broken line that spewed tranny fluid everywhere. Won't be "cheap" but it's not a new tranny/new car cost either.

Hows it going? At work here. Back in NJ in 2 weeks!

It's going. Picked up 3 more Japanese VHS last night and the same seller has about a 1/2 dozen more I hope to snap. Missed out on a Bruiser Brody VHS and an Abdullah the Butcher VHS from WWC, since they went for more than I wanna pay.

Getting amped for the trip to N.J. ?
