Definately agree there though, he grooves too much, and his FB was 97 at the highest I think.lordsepic said:aw00d05 said:His curve was disgusting against Hamilton, the Rangers are just better than him though...
wasnt that disgusting... his control simply is not there.
I still think that he'll end up being a starter, Josh Fields will be nothing but a closer and Morrow has the stuff of a starter, and working in a routine should help him.stevezimmer22 said:He has been very streaky. I have seen every pitch he has thrown this year and the problem is most definitely the control. He can get almost everyone out in the league with his pure stuff, but everything is up in the zone. Even on the 2-2 curve ball to Hamilton (which was a strike) the ball was up. I didn't see one pitch down in the zone tonight. I think he will be alright if they stick it out with him I think it would hurt his confidence to send him to the minor leagues or even take him out of the closers role and right now I think he needs more confidence I think he needs to grab a little bit more of that closers mentality and came in with a chip on his shoulder and a little bit of swagger he would be a bit more effective.

It's Morrow. He's had it for a long time.

Jason Johnson pitched as a starter for...however long he was in the majors...with diabetes. There are ways to be a starter and have diabetes.
But, if the man doesn't want to start, that's his decision.

thefasterblade said:I don't believe all the issues with Morrow have been ironed out yet. I felt that they did a disservice to him throughout his career as a Mariner. I think he can have success as a starter (though he clearly is choosing not to) and also as a closer. However, I feel like this is going to be a real shaky season for him and he will eventually be ousted from the closer role. They played too many "games" with him over the last two seasons and after his fore arm strain and moving back to the pen, he was never given the opportunity to find his location and maintain the health needed to close right now. I hope he does well, but I feel a longer DL stint in early spring would have been better for him. He would have given him ample time to recover from any discomfort and rehab stint would have helped him settle his control issues. Instead they keep rushing him and moving him back and forth and it is resulting in mixed results.
