Most overvalued chrome auto?

Not sure why you guys feel that way. I bought a BGS 9 chrome auto a few weeks back for $32. Pretty solid deal I think. To me Wilmer Flores is much worse. $30 for a redemption and the kid is hitting .243.

Yep. At least Martinez is showing SOME pop this year. Flores just looks miserable.

Not to mention F-Mart is still very young. He will spend the whole year, AA mind you, at age 20.

I'm not convinced he'll be a star and he looks way older than he says he is, but there are far worse buys (this assuming they are in the $30's).

I think it is clear to everyone now that Flores wasn't ready for A ball yet; heck he had a .590 OPS last year in SS... I am a Flores believer, but I know, realistically, it will be a season or two before I see any returns on my investments (if he is indeed redeemed).

You forget that proven stars are worth far less than unproven prospects. You could make this comparison or a similar one for every prospect card.

I've seen raws go for $50, so nice pickup, but he's never hit over .300 in his minor league career, so what makes someone think that a non-power hitter will hit over .300 in the pros, I sure don't, I don't even think he'll be a decent MLB player. As for Flores, the people paying those prices know that they'll double just like Montero when he signs anyways due to the HUGE market team, that's the biggest reason why Ellsbury, Anderson, F-Mart, Flores are so high even though they may not be a top 25 prospect.

I mean, I can understand Longoria at a couple hundred, Hanley Ramirez, etc. But the most recent ebay sale was for $3500 in an auction with a ridiculous picture, no mention of serial number, etc. If he's really PED-free, Pujols is generationally awesome, and that particular set is limited to 500 with no parallels, etc. But it's not like it's his only RC or only auto or most limited auto. So sustaining $3500+ is out of proportion and really incredible.

+1 I don't think this is off the board at all, especially since he should be playing for at least another ten or so years...who knows what could happen over all that time.

Plus, I always thought he was consistent, way too consistent - esp. avg, obp & slg, and his age is a concern.

There's no way that sale is legit. The bidding is suspect and that's about $1k over what they've usually been selling for. In fact, that closing price may be an all time high for a raw...but it's not legit.
