I am looking to start collecting a pitcher, who do you think is the most underrated pitcher in the majors not named Josh Johnson?

Who's this Josh Johnson fella you speak of ?

I think Cain, if I can't say #55 for the Marlins.

WOW! You guys/gals respond quickly! I think I will start a PC of Romero considering I was born in Toronto and I can collect Cain as the Giants collector :)

I really like Jimenez 2 years ago and said that he would soon be one of the best pitchers in the game; so he might be another guy in the PC.

Needs to pitch to prove this imo. same with ubaldo (probably will, but i don't think he's underrated, everyone knows about him) and pelfrey, jonathan sanchez, and mike leake

My top 3 underrated pitchers:
Matt Cain (honestly look at his career stats other than his record and his age)
Josh Johnson (slow start, b ut will come around, solid start last year)
Barry Zito (this year)
Yovani Gallardo (shadowed by braun and fielder imo)

i would say dan haren but he's gotten spotlighted by espn and mlb network a lot and has proven to the league he is a top 10 pitcher

:? Is that really a nickname that people are calling him? That doesn't really suit Doug too well haha. I guess the whole height thing, but still. Also Fister wouldn't be good to collect as he is only in 2 sets so far and I don't share haha jk

If you want a prospect, Mike Leake. Skipped minors. Is 2-0 and misses a ton of bats. A pitcher's pitcher.

ubaldo jimenez no question about it

He threw a no hitter and was plastered all over ESPN. He's not underrated.

stupidest thing i have ever heard. You act like throwing a no hitter is no big deal and on top of that you act like all he has done is throw one no hitter. Look at the guys numbers. He never ever gets mentioned as a top pitcher and his numbers have been pretty amazing.

There this guy like Timothy Lincy or something. I heard he has a good change up and strike outs a lot of people.

thats just what Im calling him

and yeah, he does need to prove himself, was thinking more in the term itself (where fister literally is 0) than the actual "underrated" sports talk (wheres it really means on a respect level) but I know what you guys mean about Cain and it makes good sense.

I was looking at stats the other day and saw Raffy Soriano. each year his era is in the 2s or 1s consistently. nobody seems to care about the guy though.
