"Must haves" for Peyton collectors

I did a thread like this recently on some baseball boards in regards to Cal Ripken, Jr., and learned a lot. This is a pretty simple question. If we were to create a top 5 or even a top 10 list of Manning cards, which cards would make the list? I'm not including something like a one of one but cards that are attainable. What I mean is that if someone wants to put a logo shield/patch on the list it's cool to do so but not one specific shield/logo card. Looking forward to the discussion. FWIW I'm pretty sure that all of us would agree the '98 Contenders tops the list.

That's a pretty good list I think. Gonna be completely honest here, even if I had the money to get the Contenders, I'd pass. That card just seems to have serious auto issues.

For #5 I think you could legitimately fil that slot with a huge variety. So maybe for each person that slot would be personal preference. For example, I'd have to go with the Peyton 99 PTT in that slot. Why not really?

I was thinking of the same card for that spot snyper. I am not a huge fan of the contenders either, but it is his best rc auto.

I think the '98 Topps auto should probably be mentioned as a key card but I don't know a lot about them. I know there was a bronze and gold version but no clue on production numbers. Didn't Peyton have a '98 jersey card in UD or was it event worn? I am wanting to say Press Pass had the honor of first Manning game jersey in the form of a UT jersey card in '98.

I have no idea about the jersey card. I like some of his rc autos, but if we had to go with the best, I think some would be left out of the top five. Just my .02 cents.

Good call. You actually made me think of the "Pen Pals" quad sig as well. Didn't it have Favre/Manning/Elway/Marino? I checked out the auctions for the '98 Manning jersey card. None of them have a scan of the back to see if it was game worn or event worn.

I like the '99 regular Upper Deck Patch card, back when patch cards were nearly impossible to pull. Its his first real thick card w/ a prime piece(although 99% of them were all white patches)

Contenders and SPA are definitely the top two.

I love that card! I also really like the look of the Topps QB Legacy signed by all three.
