just saw this and BIN quick!! only an 80's player collector can appreciate a buy like this.. these disc variations have all but dried up.. now I only need the our own tea version to have them all. this also puts me one card closer to completing 1989 which is a tough year since there are 2 cards I will probably never own and 2 more left I know I can still find.

Congrats on finding the card, but keep your fingers crossed that the PWE makes it to you safely.

1989 Donruss Blue Chip
1989 Leaf Blue Chip

these are both very rare.. have seen 2 leaf versions and not one Donruss Version yet.

this is the donruss version. the Leaf looks like this but says leaf where it says donruss:

Nice pick up on the disc. Are the blue chip only for A's players? Never seen those before.

Whew. I was going to say... I've NEVER seen one of those. Maybe I just didn't pay attention to them when they were issued or something.

You never know. It might show up someday and be an affordable price. Mine is a 68 Venezuelan rc card that books $8000. I have seen a psa 2 that went for over $1800. I think you might have a better chance than I.

maybe in price I will since it won't cost me that much but I don't know for sure that the card pictured isn't a 1/1 since they were never produced/released officially. That is why I posted the scans of both versions to prove there are leaf and donruss of each card whether or not a 1/1 of each. I would love to find more info on these than what I currently have or have read in the almanac.

I know someone who has both the Leaf and Donruss Blue Chip Cansecos, so they aren't 1/1's

And no, they aren't for sale

I don't have them but I know the guy that has the 5 Donruss variations of McGwire. I'm still waiting for the scans of those.

Keep in mind there are 10 of these. 5 Leaf and 5 Donruss for each player.
Each product (leaf and donruss) has 5 different border colors and hence 5 different variations.

I'm still unsure about these not being 1/1's. I've never seen the same pattern of the same product twice. I also have never found somebody that has. I hope they aren't 1/1's :)
