Card looks great. I think it's a nice pick-up, in spite of the naysayers.

Enjoy it!!

350 for Cabrera?

I think that was a mistake, I wouldn't have paid 80 for that card...then again I have no idea what it normally sells for. He's a year or so from bottoming out and giving up. Expect the card to go for a tenth of that in 3 or 4 years...Injuries/cockyness equals BAD investment

agree as well, Cabrera is gonna go down hill in the next few years, IMO

What exactly are you guys basing this on? The fact that he is getting better? The kid is a a beast at 26 and has done nothing but improve over the years. I see him only getting better as he reaches his prime.

Count me in with those that think he will face an early decline. Think Andruw Jones...

I really don't believe any of these guys are as young as they say they are. No way is Miggy my age. I say he is closer to 30 than 26.

Think Steroids ;).... Seriously though Miggy has always had alot of haters on this board for what I will never know.

The guy is a hitting machine and there is nothing even remotely saying he is gonna tail off.... he is 26 years old and has been slowly getting himself into better shape every offseason.

Heck Prince Fielder gets more love then Miggy and he is 300 Pounds of mostly fat haha.... I like Prince though! But seriously so much Miggy hate? I don't get it.

I agree. I would like someone to show me where in HERE is a glaring imminent decline?

Its not a bad buy at $350--however, remember that this is for a raw copy...BGS 9's and 10's are still selling much stronger. At the $350 mark, you are basically in line with what they go for. You will have to wait it out, probably till next year now, for Miggy to get back to the $500 raw level, if it ever does.

Depending on how nice the card is, I would consider grading it, because like the Pujols Chrome, Wright Chrome, etc. etc. etc. a lot of the raw cards are either altered/or not going to grade well. Hopefully yours will, because I think that is your biggest return for investment purposes.

if this was a PC buy and you are just going to keep it in your collection, then personally I would have waited until the offseason like right after Christmas for one of these to pop up, because more than likely you would have saved $50-$100. Right now though, present day, that is a good buy.

Nice purchase. I hope for your sake that it is not trimmed, but I know that there are untrimmed not graded copies out there, and an 8.5 or 9 grade would mean immediate profit.

I live the naysayers who are so quick to bash. Bringing up assumed regression (while he is having an unreal season) steroids and just about every other reason in the book that a player could go down, but not a single reason that directly ties to Miggy. While the offseason may bring lower prices, we are months away, with legit chances for the card to see more increases before then.

As for those who feel that the hobby was "more pure" when "kids" bought to collect rather than investing, come on. Everyone can be in this the way they enjoy. I wonder if it's better that the "kids" understand the value of a dollar and are not willing to spend many dollars on cardboard without the possiblity of making it back twofold. I know that I was buying and selling cards by the time I was 13, and that did not take away from the enjoyment in any way.

Wow, didnt expect this kind of response. This kind of card is very out of the ordinary for cards today, we see players having massive amounts of rookie cards and rookie autographs making it difficult for one to choose which one is best and at times the other copies bringing down the values a bit. For Cabrera this is his only and best card and I think it has no where to go but up. There are guys in tripple A that are his age that still sell well. I don't buy the whole "He isn't actually the age he says he is," because what is our game made up of today; all latin players. If he is older, so is 2/3rd's of the game. I have always wanted this card and when he was off to a huge start in the first 3 weeks of the season this card was almost selling for double that. He is ice cold right now, and I feel like for the price it was a solid pick-up. Will he pull an Andruw Jones? Maybe, but if that's the case he still has many huge years ahead of him.

steve-I agree with you almost completely. Only place I disagree is that I do believe the card "can" go down, though in the long run I think there will very likely be numerous times where you'll be able to sell for a solid profit, and think you got a nice price on it.

I also wonder if those who do not follow MLB RC Auto's closely (and focus on the Minors) recognize the potential of cards like these, and are aware of past prices on this card and others like it (RC Auto's of some of the biggest names out there today.)
