what about your Flames?

They're coming eventually. Calgary isn't exactly a team that has had been great prospects in recent years. This is a team that ever since coming to Calgary in 1980, has never had at top 5 pick. I wonder if that can be said the same about any other NHL team? If you can name a team that hasn't had top 5 pick since 1980, post it up as id love to know. In 2003 we had huge one, Dion Phaneuf. Flames Drafted him in 9th overall in 2003 and he had been are best home grown player from the draft in many, many years.

So they ended up with two 6th overall picks (not to bad of a place to pick from), Rico Fata (ended up playing for 6 different NHL teams and his career goal total was 19) and Daniel Tkaczuk (Played 19 NHL games, thats it). All our other picks in the years we missed the playoffs were picks like #9, #10, #12, #13, #14 overall. Other than Dion at #9, no others turned out.

Even those bad years were we missed the playoffs 8 or 9 years in a row, you would expect we would get at least 1 top 4 pick in those years. Not so lucky, most of the Flames teams that missed the playoffs, just barely missed them those years, hence the lower picks.

Nothing worse than just missing the playoffs. No Playoffs and No High pick in the coming draft either.

Jared Knight is #6, Jamie Arniel is #7 on the B's list and Max Sauve is #8.

You guys have another prospect that i really, really like and im a bit surprised he wasn't ranked a bit higher. Craig Cunningham is the guy i really like and is ranked #10 on the B's list. Im sure Jarcar has seen him play a bit as well, as he was a force to be reckoned with, with the Vancouver Giants (WHL), the last few years. He is currently playing in Portland of the WHL as they acquired him a couple of months ago in a push to win the WHL title this year. He has a ton of skill but i think he is ranked so low because of his small size, he is listed as only 5'9" and 175lbs. Even though he is small, he was still drafted pretty early last year as the B's took him with the 97th overall pick. I think that was in the 3rd round.

Wasn't sure how up to date the list was with deadline trades. Not surprising to see Colborne then.

I actually vaguely remember seeing Cunningham in an Everett/Portland game a couple weeks ago that I went too, didn't realize he was a B's prospect though. I may have to check him out as it looks like it's going to be Everett/Portland in the first round of the WHL playoffs.

Tim Erixon is our under 1 and is actually ranked pretty high on the overall list. He is 15th overall. I don't think the Flames have had a prospect rank that high since Phaneuf was ranked 2nd or 3rd back in the day. Playing in Sweden though, i don't know much about him at all.

Look at Cory Schneider, he was in the AHL a few years and many Canuck fans thought they should trade him as he was just "wasting" away in Manitoba. But things have worked out well for him this year. The extra year or two will help a young goalie. That said Irving should get some time in the NHL next year if for no other reason just to keep him encouraged and motivated.
